Default The Rhetoric Continues, When Will It Stop?

I had an occasion to read an email last night that was left out on a drivers room table at one of our Presidential Award Asskissers Terminals.

The pretext of this communication was that a road driver from Carlisle that called a Regional VP asking about the Christmas Dinner.

The message went on to suggest that ABF was again under attack by the "five new competitors" that can offer more competitive pricing as a result of the concessions that are being voted on by the rank and file Teamsters. Due to these conditions, and the fact there are 40+ layoffs, it wouldn't be proper to celebrate the season with all of these folks out of work. Also the fact that the $8,500 investment would somehow hurt the bottom line.

All of this going on, all the while Transport Topics (more than once) reporting that ABF is looking to buy another LTL carrier. I suppose that it depends which end they might be talking out of at the time.

I just cannot believe that these esteemed members of management did not learn their lesson during their pre-contract, direct, illegal dissemination of information that has no other use than other to mentally beat our members.

ABF is always at a disadvantage, according to these managers. But let me be very clear before you ask for any concession, so that you don't think you might have some upper hand leverage that really does not exist. When you ask for concessions, be overly prepared to give concessions. We will demand executive pay caps. We will demand a 12 hour maximum work day including breaks, and 5 day work week. We will also demand 2 discretionary unpaid days off per month. Also, do not forget that there will be some collateral that will be have to posted, so that you don' take the high road out of town, with the money you squeezed out of us.

Show us by example, that you are serious about being competitive, and make the executive and management, wage and incentive package cut to less than $150,000 per year and show us the need for concessions, and we will talk.

Anything less, you stay in your office on mahogany row and leave us the fock alone. We are the professional people here that bring home the bacon, and delivers yours too. Do not forget it. For many of us, we have been through a few company closings, and your BS does not scare us. We might have to work for less money at a company that might not have as good of benefits, but we WILL have jobs. Where will you go, as part of a management team that could not keep a profitable business out of trouble, in order to squeeze your employees for a kick back.

    Happy Holidays.

I wish more guys like you and MULER worked at YRCW. This whole thing sucks, and there are some guys here who think voting NO is the end of the world. Also, our agreement isn't even done yet, the details are still getting worked out, so we should just trust the company and the union with our futures.

Believe me I can understand where some people think the companies are in trouble. But I am one that believes if they are in trouble it is the fault of the management not the TEAMSTERS. I think ZOLLARS and his Buddies are going to make a fortune off this what I feel is a deliberate down turn at YRC and who ever votes for the give back will be seen as a fool when all the facts come out. Hell if need be the CENTRAL STATES PENISION FUND could invest enough money into YRC stock to pay off creditors. Hey I know instead of a vote by YRC TEAMSTERS to give back or not why not let all TEAMSTERS vote on weather or not to Buy enough YRC stock to not only help our fund but to have a say so on the daily running of YRC.Or will they just keep investing in stocks that keep going broke. I would rather risk my future on TEAMSTERS than some china man scraping computers in a village in China.

Having met Tyson Johnson, and his team, I would not be afraid to stand behind them.
