That is a really tough question! All I know is my husband wants his job back! Laid off nine months this past Friday! ABF called him last night and this morning for casual, first time since March. He could not do either because of working at SWIFT now. Talk about pain!!! He wanted to take that work so badly but can't risk losing his job at SWIFT when we have no idea when he will ever be called back at ABF permanently. I just want to see all the ABF drivers back at work and it seems good ole Zollars has put ABF in a position where they have no choice but to ask for concessions now.

They won't ask for wage concessions. In my opinion, they will try to get out of the pension.

I agree steelheadfish. I just hope that NP sent a loud clear message to management and to the IBT.

Why do you think the IBT has not come forward to say what the talks were about?

I think they are concerned with there costs be higher that any other LTL carrier now. The do not want this to put them in the shape YRCW is in now.

The only way to do that is for them to hire BZ! He will have some time on his hands shortly.

I totally agree. Especially after listening to Wes Kemp's talk on the ABF website. What I am wondering is how they will get ABF drivers to vote yes for any concessions. It's not like ABF is in the same shape as YRC and the driver's jobs depend on a yes vote. I know my husband will vote yes if it means getting called back to work but I would like to hear what ABF and the teamsters have to say about that. It was mentioned in the second quarter conference call. Anyway, YRC has been given so many concessions, there is no way ABF can compete in this market now!
