    Default ABF Wage cut poll

Lets just see if Shultz knows what he's talking about! Let's hear your opinion on a wage decrease and your age. He said the average Teamster is 60.
I say H### no on a wage decrease and I'm 50 years old.

I am 53 and I would vote no on a pay reduction.

You did ask for opinions and I'll probably get beat up for this but what the hell. From what I can see the only things that are profitable right now are the UPacks & Turnkeys. ABF can't compete with the nons & YRC in pricing and has lost most of the good clean freight accounts. Food houses, private residences & ugly oversized freight seems to be all they can afford to haul.

If YRCW survives, and I hope that they do, then I do not believe that ABF will be able to compete being the only carrier paying the full NMFA wage & benefits package.

It's not fair that money making companies have to suffer because of YRCW's greed, but it is what it is. Just ask the guys from New Penn, Yellow/Roadway, Holland, Reddaway, New England Motor Freight and all the non union companies that have already taken the cuts in pay and benefits.

I'm 62 and I honestly do not know how I would vote until I have seen ABF's proposal. But then I don't have as much to lose as most of my co workers.

I welcome opinions. In my opinion, YRC made very bad business decisions and now looking for the workers to bail them out. The IBT made a bad decision to involve the pension in the concessions without taking into consideration in what that outcome would be for ABF, or did they? It was a kick right in the a## for ABF for YRC to get that pension deal, especially when they have been trying to get out of it for years. That's all water under the bridge now, so no use crying over spilt milk. A wage decrease does nothing to help a company survive, that has been proven numerous times through the years. If ABF is smart, which I know that they are, they will come up with some kind of pension plan of their own and trying to get a wage concession at the same time. You really can't blame them for trying for the wage concession. That's just good business sense! It would be our fault for giving the wage cut. I, like most others will listen to some kind of pension plan but other than that, forget it!

I don't know the exact count but it's around 7000 union employees.
