Default Teamsters, ABF Not In Concession Talks

    Statement from Tyson Johnson:

There is an erroneous media report that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters National Freight Division is in negotiations with ABF that would result in concessions for our members represented under the National Master Freight Agreement. Let me be clear – this report is false.

According to a November 17 article on the Journal of Commerce website titled “Trucker ABF, Teamsters in Concession Talks” ABF Chief Operating Officer Wesley Kemp stated that the Teamsters and ABF are in a concessionary “dialogue and hopefully we will reach an agreement soon.” In fact, we are not having contract or concession discussions with the company.

I have contacted ABF and demanded that they correct the record.

A brother on Facebook wrote that he just got done watching a 3rd quarter results video on ABF, and in the video Wes is seen/heard saying they are in concessionary talks with the IBT; this is just not true.

I also heard Wes Kemp in the 3rd qtr report say this but even farther back, I heard I think her name is Judy (the new president) and the guy that is leaving (is that Howdy Doody) say in a 2nd qtr conference call that they were in talks all the way back then looking at concessions!! If none of this is true, why is the IBT just now denying it? I don't know what the heck to think anymore! Something is really weird here.

i know a lot of abf people that have spoken highly of kemp. i would think that would change. it is not enough that he is a the helm of a highly successful carrier, he wants to stir the pot and upset the balance. it makes me sick to see anyone emulate zollars. with the near certain demise of yrc, abf stands to reap a great deal of business as well as continued profit. but no, kemp needs to degrade his work force and stuff more money into his pockets.
