    Default Miami Driver Killed

Man, 100 Animals Die In U.S. 27 Crash - Traffic News Story - WPLG Miami
BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- The southbound lanes of U.S. 27 near the Palm Beach/Broward County line were closed for hours Tuesday after an 18-wheeler crashed into an overturned truck full of goats, pigs, sheep, chickens and cows.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a truck pulling a livestock trailer filled with animals jackknifed on southbound U.S. 27 at mile marker 47 after the driver lost control of the vehicle at about 10:30 p.m. Monday. An 18-wheeler then crashed into the truck, killing the driver, 64-year-old John Edward James, of Deltona.

    Rest in Peace Brother.

Made me a little more than angry when I watched the video and it's nearly half way through and they are just so upset at the carnage of the animals and they finally mention that Brother Edward was killed.

Rt. 27 is the main toll free highway connecting south & central Florida. I have driven that road many times in a car, but never at night. I found that particular area to be very dangerous. It has a lot of slow moving agricultural vehicles used to grow & transport sugarcane. A lot of (migrant???) field workers travel that road.

The driver of the truck pulling the animals, 43-year-old Benigno Gomez, used a flashlight to try to warn the approaching tractor-trailer. But troopers said James either could not stop or did not see the trailer

I have to wonder if Mr. Gomez was legally operating that truck.

Good point 2631, first thing I thought none the less very tragic accident.

As far as Mr. Gomez, very doubtful anymore will be reported concerning him, would be interesting to know the rest of the story though!
