Default I will Stand by No Vote

I made a copy of my No vote before I sent it in. This way if this thing passes somehow, and soon after that, everyone finally realizes the true reason why the company and the union wanted us locked into this wage cut, this way I can prove my no vote.
One thing that always ticked me off in the past was when some contracts passed, everyone complained after the fact on how we got screwed on it but miraculously, nobody voted for it.
For all of the I will vote no,then vote yes teamsters or the ones that will vote yes and keep it a secret to your fellow employees:
If you are ashamed or scared to let your fellow employees know beforehand on your true vote, atleast have the decency and integrity not to lie on how you voted!!I will stand by my no vote to anyone, whether it be company or union. In my own personal opinion,I don't even believe in the secret ballot, after all,we are all supposed to be Teamsters!

How come? Just because we are Teamsters we should not have the personal right to keep our voting secret?

In my life voting for something as a Teamster is 2nd only to voting for our elected officials.

Docker, I'm with you..I brought my ballot in and signed it in front of everyone for the same reason. There was also 5 other guys who did the same thing. When I was at New Penn everyone said they voted no for the first giveback, yet it passed at around 80%.
I do believe in the secret ballot though. I don't feel anyone has to tell how they voted if they don't wan't to.

I think the voting should at least be held at each terminal and the stewards should be there to make sure that the people voting are the right ones.

Don't get me wrong Teamster,we should always have that right to vote in secret if that's how the union wants it be. MPO is that I don't care what others think of my vote.I will always vote with my heart, facts on what "I" believe to be true and my instincts.I would never, ever let anyone coerce me into voting any other way.We have always had other stand up votes at the hall with the ayes and nayes and I didn't see anything wrong with that. The trouble with the secret vote is that after the fact, anyone can lie on how they voted. Why,I will never understand why! But they do and always have done.We have to live with this outcome for the duration of this contract.I will always respect a man or woman that stands up for what they believe in,even if I don't agree but I will respect it! It's the two faced people in this world that I despise. If I voted no and the proposal failed and then the company closed as a result, I would own up to it! This world can take everything that you have but it can't take your integrity! Sorry about the long reply, that's the philosopher in me...lol

I voted for Ron and not RV Durham and I can kick my own butt each day for doing that.

I hate to admit this but I can't really honestly remember who I voted for. That's a shame! I think that I voted for Carey too,but not sure. I do know that I voted for Ross Perot though...lol I liked him!

Well I haven't gotten a ballot yet, so I have not voted yet. I sat in the meeting with the company big wigs and listen to what they had to say. There was nothing said in that meeting that made me think ABF was hurting. While the meeting was going on there were two new trailers outside in the yard. One trailer was built in March of 2010 the other in April of 2010. Dam we are only in May of 2010. If we are in such bad shape why not push the purchase of new equipment back. Also we were told that if the concession were in place in 2009 ABF would still have lost 100 million, but only 25 million of their money. The other 75 million would have come from us. The company also said that they would not pass this on to the customers. So where will the new freight come from if they can't match the discount being given by the other ltl carriers. All I came away with is that it is better to lose your money rather than that of the company. By getting these concessions we will still lose money but most of it will be your money. This will slow the company cash burn down and buy us some time. This is what it is all about they don't want to have to go to the banks.
