Default Teamsters File Suit Against Allegiant Air

Washington, D.C.- The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Airline Division and Teamsters Local 1224 filed a lawsuit against Allegiant Air Friday afternoon, November 15, in the federal district court in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The lawsuit alleges that Allegiant Air is violating the Railway Labor Act by disregarding many of the provisions and protections contained in the Work Rules Agreement negotiated by Allegiant Air and AAPAG, the former independent union representing the pilots of Allegiant Air.

“Filing a federal lawsuit against Allegiant Air is not something we take pleasure in doing,” said Local 1224 President Daniel C. Wells. “It was a difficult decision and it is unfortunate that it had to come to this. However, when an employer simply chooses to ignore negotiated work rules as a daily practice, sometimes the only recourse a labor union has in defending the rights of an employee group is to file a lawsuit.”

Teamsters Seek Court Order to Restore Status Quo at Allegiant Air

Washington, D.C. - Today the Teamsters filed a motion in federal court seeking an order enjoining Allegiant Air from violating the status quo provisions as embodied in the 2010 Pilot Work Rules Agreement and in binding past practices that were in effect at the time Allegiant Air and the Teamsters began negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement. The Teamsters are also seeking a court order compelling Allegiant Air to restore the status quo provisions that it has already changed. Along with the motion, the Teamsters filed an extensive brief containing numerous documents and sworn declarations from several of the pilots who fly for Allegiant Air.

These actions follow a lawsuit filed by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Airline Division and Teamsters Local 1224 against Allegiant Air on November 15 in the federal district court in Ft.

Default Allegiant Air Pilots to Meet with Investors, Analysts to Discuss Operating, Safety Co

(Washington, D.C.) – The Allegiant Air Pilots Executive Council, an employee group of Allegiant Travel Company (NASDAQ: ALGT) pilots represented by Teamsters Local Union 1224 in Wilmington, Ohio, announced plans today to begin formal dialogues with Allegiant stakeholders and other influential voices in the financial community, including institutional shareholders, equity analysts, corporate lenders and insurers, in order to address operating and safety concerns that exist at the airline.

“Allegiant management has turned a deaf ear to serious operational concerns raised by the pilots,” said Capt. David Bourne, Director of Airline Division at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. “We believe Allegiant’s financial backers have a right to know what is going on and be given a chance to weigh in on vital changes needed for Allegiant’s long-term success before it’s too late.”

Default TAMC to Launch Investigation into Allegiant Air Maintenance

(WASHINGTON) – The Teamsters Aviation Mechanics Coalition (TAMC) announced today that it will launch an investigation into reports of a disproportionate number of engine failures, air returns and declared emergencies at Allegiant Air. TAMC immediately recognized that a comprehensive investigation into the continuing maintenance failures at Allegiant is imperative after interviewing pilots at the airline.

TAMC is determined to find the root cause of these maintenance failures regardless of where the investigation may lead. The immediate concern is to identify the underlying cause of these incidents and to offer suggestions to mitigate this unacceptable situation before one of these incidents claims the lives of passengers.

Default Teamster Pilots With Allegiant Air Conduct Informational Pickets

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – Teamster pilots with Allegiant Air are conducting informational picketing today in an effort to bring awareness to their plight for investments into Allegiant Air’s operational systems, basic industry averages in salary and for other job protection measures that are standard in the airline industry.

Informational picketing events are taking place today at McCarran International Airport and Allegiant Air Corporate Headquarters in Las Vegas, as well as at St Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport and Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Florida.

“The pilots have been in negotiations with Allegiant Air for two years – too long – with little to no progress,” said Daniel Wells, president of Teamsters Local 1224 in Wilmington, Ohio. “Their first negotiation session began in December of 2012 – with mediated negotiations beginning in April 2014 – and still the company cannot reach agreement with the union on even the most basic conditions in their negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement.”

Teamster Pilots With Allegiant Air Authorize Strike
(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – Pilots at Allegiant Air, represented by the Airline Professionals Association (APA) Teamsters Local 1224, voted overwhelmingly, 465-8, today to authorize a strike against Allegiant Air. The 10-day voting period closed at 12:00 p.m. EST today, with 98 percent of voting Allegiant Air pilots voting “Yes” to authorize the union to call a strike if necessary.

“This does not mean that a strike is going to happen tomorrow or even next week,” said APA Teamsters Local 1224 President Daniel Wells. “It does, however, mean that the situation is fluid. If Allegiant continues to stonewall in negotiations and continues to disregard the federal court’s injunction ordering it to restore the pilots’ work rules, then a pilot strike at Allegiant Air will be very realistic.”
