Quote:
“Now that the ballots have been counted and the contract has been rejected, we plan to speak to our members and our carhaul local union leaders to discuss the issues behind this defeat,” Zuckerman said. “We will get our members’ input on the issues that concern them. We understand that our members are worried and angry about the difficult economic conditions facing the auto and carhaul industries. We hope to resolve this contract without going on strike.”
Perhaps this should have been done before instead of after the fact.

I wish we would have had Teamsters as brave as the Car Haulers when it came to the freight contract. We got a terrible contract and not enough strong Teamsters to vote it down. Good Luck Load and Park Charlie.

Well Charlie I for one, and almost all of us at our barn, will very willingly walk the line for whats right. After the last crap contract that had the amount of concessions that it did but "has record increases to health and welfare". I don't think any of us were willing to accept anything this bad but this one also "has record increases to health and welfare". Does anyone else see a pattern here. The best thing that could be done is a 2 year deal contract stays the same as is but Art 22 removed all together, the companies never used it as it was intended to be used, Give all companies other than Allied a signing bonus and put Allied back to full scale for the remainder of the contract. Then in two more years hopefully the ecomony has a turn arround and its back to balls to the wall bussiness as usual. Thats how this Teamster see's it.

I hear you on that, but I don't want any articles molested. We need to keep the articles alone. Any infringement on any article simply leads to further infringement. No compromises. A pay freeze, a two year contract, and Allied can try to get back what they gave up next time. I wont fight for anyone who voted to get a bonus to vote me in a paycut. sorry.
