Why I shop at CostCo
The main reason is because CostCo employs Teamsters in most states, not mine but almost every other. There are no union grocery stores here in Texas and we all know what happened to that WalMart when the meat cutters organized. CostCo sells USDA Choice beef, which is a grade above the stuff you find on display at most grocery stores, a grade below the USDA Prime you find in a steakhouse. I buy the whole slabs and cut my own steaks, sometime they're Rib Eye but mostly Top Sirloin. Same with my PorkChops. Any how, last week I bought a 15lb Top Sirloin for $39.98 ($2.75lb) and put it in my freezer at home. I pulled it out and sliced of a 1.25" thick slab and put it in my broiler. This meat was abnormally greasy and gristly. It just didnt look or taste right. Someone musta hacked up an old dairy cow and somehow it got past the QC people. I took it back. I got the friendliest service and a full refund but what I really wanted was more meat. So I go see the butcher tell him I had to return my last purchase and ask for another whole Top Sirloin. He comes out with a nicely marbled 13pounder and asks me if I want him to run it through the tenderizer. Hell Yeah. He asks me if I wanted him to cut it for me. Hell Yeah, 1.25" thick. Then he trims 3lbs of fat and gristle of this slab. Then he weighs it and I'm headed home with 10lbs of some super trimmed, extra tender USDA Choice Top Sirloin. What do you think WalMart would have done? I know my local grocery store would have told me to pound sand. I wish they would organize here in San Antonio - we have 3 CostCos. This RTW State crap blows my mind. Knowing I have brothers and sisters in other places that work under contract is about as close as I can get.
Pass the EFCA without further delay.

Re: Why I shop at CostCo
They are not Teamsters at the closest store to me, but Sam's is across the street and I just look as I go by it.

Maybe you should try to organize them, especially if Sam's Club is.

Re: Why I shop at CostCo
Well I know the reason I shop at Costco is because they are the closest store to my house. They built one 1.5 miles from my place on the way to the freeway to work back in 2000. Before I had to drive about 15 miles to hit one of the other Costco's and I always felt like I had to buy a lot to make it worth my while. Now I can stop in buy my regular items and its not out of my way.
Costco in Washington State is non-union, I have spoke to some of the workers there about joining a union and they just give me that deer in the headlights look. I must admit Costco does take care of their employees up here. They are happy and don't see a need to change I guess.
