I have been told, that a plasma TV has something like a glass cover over it. When it is in a room with over head lighting or lamps. If you, the TV and the lighting is situated in such a way you will see the reflection of the lights in the TV and you will get a mirror like effect.

I have been told this does not happen with a LCD TV.

Good reply from the Shirt Man .. LOL

HBF, I just bought a 52" plasma last year and the advice Teamster is giving you is accurate. I put mine in the gameroom and its kind of dark down there, so the sales guy advised me to buy a plasma. If memory serves me correctly, I believe the LCD was a wee bit more expensive. I purchased a Panasonic and I have been quite pleased with it. The Blue Ray player with surround sound is awesome ! In fact, I finally got around to running the speaker wire and hanging the speakers on the wall a few weeks ago.

Sadly, I bought mine at Circuit City and we know what happened to them ... their sales staff was way more helpful that at the Best Buy across the street. Of course, maybe I picked a bad day, but I just couldn't get any help at Best Buy ....

Good luck with the purchase ; let us know what you decide.

One more thing, If you are going to be setting from 10-15 feet from the TV I would get a 30-35 inch screen. That will be plenty big. More than 15 then consider going to the 40 and up.

If the 30-35 inch will do you at the distance you will be setting, you can save upwards of $200-$250 bucks verses the bigger screen.

I just bought a 37" Toshiba LCD. I couldn't be happier. The picture quality is great, and I don't even have High Def. I could only imagine what this sucker will look like when I finally break down and get HD.
