Default Teacher Says She Doesn't Regret Punching Student in Face

A Florida teacher is off the hook for punching a student in the face, but whether she'll get to return to her job is still in question.

Prosecutors decided to drop their case against art teacher Sandy Hadsock, 64, saying a student's cell phone video of the confrontation last month, along with witness statements, show she acted in self defense, "Today" reports.

"I told you, step back," the much taller boy shouts at Hadsock before she busts his lip.

At one time I wanted to be a teacher. Used to be a teacher's aid. I changed my mind about 10 years ago when I saw what was happening with kids in public schools. I would be afraid to be a teacher, at least with the teenagers!! You can't do anything to defend yourself against these kids that have no limits. They can do whatever they want. I know because I have a niece and nephew that just graduated from the local h.s.

Sure wish it would go back to the old days when the teachers had authority, this boy that threatened the teacher should not only be expelled but sent to juvenile school..And the school officials fired if they not only give this woman her job back but a public apology is in order..What has happened to the schools of today and then you have people preaching that our teachers are paid too much and have way too many union benefits..To do what?? babysit with their hands tied...

Lots of kids have no respect today! Its very sad! I'm on the teachers side. If one of my kids were being disrespectful I would hope the teacher would correct them! Seems the way things are these days the teachers have their hands tied!

If I would have done something like that and the teacher broke my lip........my father would have beat my butt also. And even as a parent today you can get in trouble for disiplining your children.....even if its just a spanking!

Everything is going bad now days. I'm sure several people on this site had got the board and smacked when in school and I don't think it hurt one of us but really made us a better person today. Yes StJay your right many of us got it at school and then when we got home we got it again to make sure we knew right from wrong. Today you once again are right as if parents disipline their kids, and if the kids don't turn you in the school officials will damn sure do it. Where have the good ole days gone and we as parents have to assume some of the blame for our childrens action today.

    Good for that teacher

I never got spanked at school. I was a good girl because I got spanked at home when I needed it!!! That taught me to respect adults.

In second grade I got beat up by the bully at school. We both had to go into the principal's office to get paddled. I took mine first, whack whack whack, I was thinking 'that was it ?' No big deal, didn't hurt at all. Then it was the bully's turn. I was walking down the hall from the office and could hear him wailing and crying as he got his. I learned right then I was alot tougher than him and he never bothered me again

Having been in classrooms on both sides of the desk for several years, neither do I. Broke up a fight once as a sub, one kid punched me in the face. the officer asked me if I wanted to press charges, and I declined. (I told him why start his criminal record any earlier than he had to?)

IMO, the decline of respect for teachers and the rise of the ADD/autism 'plagues' stems from the mid-'70s when being able to give the spankings at school and home was starting to be taken away.
