Default Recovery skips past middle class

An improving housing market and rising stock prices appear to have done little to boost the take-home pay of the typical American worker. And while the U.S. economy continues to heal faster than almost any other Western nation, evidence remains strong that the recovery has done little to boost the fortunes of people in the vast economic middle.

Things are better .... good is subjective to most. Those on the right feel like all is lost, whine and cry about how they think things should be.
People are working, but not everywhere. On my last trip I traveled in some poverty stricken areas yet still saw signs for help wanted, including many CDL driver positions. ( not saying what the pay was )
Can things be better .... of course, but it took many years to cause the economic dive we fell into, it will take many years to climb out.
    IMO.

It is pretty serious here in NM but I do blame that on our Republican governor. She made some pretty bad decisions her first year in office that I think affected our economy very negatively.

Not much better here in New Jersey ... home of the great Chris Christie.
Our rate is higher then the national average and went up ( slightly ) on the last report.

Many areas of the state have double digit rates like our southern shore areas, which have 12% plus unemployment. Not much down there except tourism, and that hasn't kicked in as of the last report.

Interestingly, our tourism has recovered in a big way. But that does not bring good jobs to NM, just part-time service jobs. A lot of companies have left in the last couple of years and our governor said it is because of the tax breaks Texas offers to businesses. But her first year in office she managed to get pushed through our legislation a deal that cut the incentives to the movie industry pretty seriously and the movie industry brings big bucks and lots of jobs to NM. Fortunately she turned around with the push of the Democrats in this state and signed some incentives back into law for our movie industry and as I understand, business tax incentives as a whole.

And this is really not off topic so I am going to share this it is so exciting. I don't pay much attention to tv or actors. But there is a certain show on PBS that I love. My daughter cleans houses and a British actor from a certain PBS show is filming here right now and while him and his family rent a house during the filming, my daughter is cleaning their house! I have been told the cleaning crew gets to take pictures and get autographs next week before they leave our little town. Daughter is going to ask if mom can come meet them too!!!

I can only speak of myself and my Local , and I have to say there is so much work , there are guys who are turning down overtime because they want to relax and enjoy the summer , then again I am in Road and Bridge Construction and our funding is from City , State and Federal dollars so I do understand that other Teamsters may be slow because there money comes from different manufactures and if the economy is slow there will not be loads to ship out .
