    Default Home Depo Stores

Must be nice to be able to throw away customers...I had to purchase some lumber for a project I had in my back yard and the items would have run around $100.oo..Needless to say I went to Home Depot to buy the stuff but they acted like my money wasn't good enough for them.I asked for help in getting a couple pieces of wood cut to 3' lengths and was told they didn't have the time and that I would have to comeback later in the week.I went to Lowes and they couldn't wait on me fast enough and the price was just about the same. Guess where I AIN'T shopping at anymore?

I shop Home Depot 100% of the time. I just have to because Roadway is a core carrier for them and have been for years. And Lowe's is so anti-union! I have been at a customer that unloaded a shipment from my trailer that was going to a Lowe's DC just because I held a Teamster Card. They were told to use Overnight. With the reasons above this is why I will drive past a Lowe's and go 10 more miles to get to a Home Depot.

    Just my 2 cents...

This really isn't the first time. When I first retired and I was waiting for my pension to kick in I went to work for Lasco bathware out of Anaheim,Calif and we delivered to the home Depots and for the most part they were rude and most of the time acted as if we were the devil () delivering to them...ESTES was their core carrier at the time and when one pulled in we had to move away from the dock so they could back in and unload.Usually a set of pups that we had to wait for them to break them down and build them up.They had priority all the time. Not all home depots were bad but most were.Actually the best ones to deliver to was Long Island and Phila areas ..Boston area and Hartford were terrible. Bangor Maine was another one I hated to go to.York Pa was another nightmare because they made ya wait till your exact time to unload weither they were busy or not....

I worked for Lowe's as a Millwork (doors and windows) specialist for 2 years. They are horrible people to work for. They are the Home Improvement equivalent of Wal-Mart. Home Improvement stores suck on the weekends and in good weather. You have to pick where you shop and what time of day you shop. I hate crowds of people so I tend to shop at Kroger at 10pm or later (they are open 24/7). Home Depot I go normally during the weekday hours because they are always slow after contractor hours. Needless to say I hate dealing with people that work at Home Improvement stores too. Home Depot sucks, but Lowe's sucks just as bad. They are both anti-union. But I do like Home Depot just a little bit better now that Roadway is their main carrier.

Home Depot has several core carriers. Estes is the major non-union carrier and Roadway is the major union carrier.

dc428 your probably right about the best time to shop at places. I usually do my Grocery shopping at night also. That way I avoid the crowds. I was in no particular hurry at HD , It was just the attitude I had to deal with more than anything. I don't expect people to jump up and down about their jobs but I don't expect people to act like i am doing them a favor by shopping there. This might also just be the attitudes of the new breed of workers in todays work force.

I went to a Home Depot in Cinci, to get some PVC pipe to build a display for the Ammerica@work 2007 show and needed twelve 48" dowels cut in half to hang Tshirts on. The pimply faced kid on the verical saw was everso helpful to the (white)people in front of me, Cut their 4 X 8 sheet of plywood 19 different ways. Shut the saw off as I was standing there and told me he couldnt cut my dowels. Had to ask a 'manager'. Went down 2 isles and came back - sorry, cant help you. I dropped the dowels right there and started to leave. Passed the isle where he just spoke to the 'manager' and saw it was empty. Walked up to some woman who worked there and asked her for directions to Lowe's. It may have been the Teamster logo on my Tshirt but all this time I swore it was because I was hispanic. I hope this dont come out wrong but I was 100% positive I had just been discriminated against - left the store thinking 'this must be how black folks feel'.............. And it didnt feel good, I assure you.

I aint spent a dime in there since.
