    Default Just an opinion ?

Decided this opinion article was worth more then just a passing thought. Of course a few might feel it's incorrect, especially since it calls out one our President's biggest campaign promises.

President Trump is still promising to bring back coal jobs. But the underlying reasons for coal employment’s decline — automation, falling electricity demand, cheap natural gas, technological progress in wind and solar — won’t go away.
Meanwhile, last week the Treasury Department officially (and correctly) declined to name China as a currency manipulator, making nonsense of everything Mr. Trump has said about reviving manufacturing.
So will the Trump administration ever do anything substantive to bring back mining and manufacturing jobs? Probably not.
But let me ask a different question: Why does public discussion of job loss focus so intensely on mining and manufacturing, while virtually ignoring the big declines in some service sectors?
In an ever-changing economy, jobs are always being lost: 75,000 Americans are fired or laid off every working day. And sometimes whole sectors go away as tastes or technology change.
Best to read the entire article. Opinions vary, but this is as close to being on point as I can tell.
Was this a political statement ? Or just a reality check on what some people hear ?

It was a good article to read, retail jobs will always be here but they are not the same as they were 25 years ago.. The retail stores like Macy's and Sears are shrinking because they did not get on the internet till it was too late.. Amazon is their problem, mot the economy.. Amazon from what I heard last week takes 38% of "ALL"on line sales.. My wife and kids are guilty of shopping on line.. It's the online that is killing the brick and mortar stores. But then again you take Sears and you can put the blame directly on the hedge fund manager that bought the company and is running it into the ground.. I have said many times that technology was our biggest enemy when it came to jobs but I do believe some of the jobs that Trump promised will come back..
As far as what Trump said about China and it's currency manipulation,he is IMO using it as a bargaining chip against China in an effort to keep peace in Korea.. That wacko in North Korea has made many threats.. I would much rather wake up to a cup of coffee using the electric coffee pot than having to worry about when and if the electric will ever come back on..

While we can’t stop job losses from happening, however, we can limit the human damage when they do happen. We can guarantee health care and adequate retirement income for all. We can provide aid to the newly unemployed. And we can act to keep the overall economy strong — which means doing things like investing in infrastructure and education, not cutting taxes on rich people and hoping the benefits trickle down.
I wish our elected representatives in D.C. would feel this way

Just an add on to this story,Trump today is gonna sign an executive order to stop companies from bringing in foreign replacement workers.. You know we have talked about these jobs in the past.. Like the hi tech jobs at Disney and a few or the power companies in the country.

In broad terms, technology always moves jobs out, and replaces them with different, newer jobs.
Coal is old, dirty and outdated for a modern world.
Saving a few thousand of those jobs is akin to saving the milk mans job.
After my recent swing out west, I can attest that technology is alive and well. From solar panel farms, to wind farms, all requires manpower to build and maintain.
Even the coal miners museum has solar panels. What does that say ?

For the rest of the opinions, if Trump is using words for bargaining, then so be it.
I doubt we will ever need to think about our coffee pots, and the electric they use.
    North Korea is another story.
I was focused more on the jobs aspect of the article and why we must look past what is being lost and think more about moving forward. Time stands still for no one, neither does technology.

    Not exactly.
The order calls on the Department of Labor, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department to “take prompt action to crack down on fraud and abuse” within the U.S. immigration system to "protect workers." The order doesn't seem to change the status of existing visa waiver rules in the United States and instead orders departments to review and identify potential "abuses" of the visa waiver system.
In my opinion, it's just more hyperbole.
    Because ...
The order aligns with President Trump's promise as a candidate to review visa programs to prioritize the goal of "buy American, Hire American," even as the president's own company, the Trump Organization, has often opted to take an alternate route. The company has used existing visa waiver laws in order to fill positions with foreign workers in Trump properties such as Mar-a-Lago and Trump Vineyard.

I actually saw an article last week and I did not post, about how trump is looking for new foreign workers for one of his projects. I will try to find it.

Coal can be burned cleanly with today's technology.. Obama put his foot on it not because of the coal itself but more because his backers were in "GREEN" technology.. It ALWAYS goes back to the buck.. And the ones supplying them.

Trump is not aligned with his companies so if he is thinking of bringing in foreign workers for one of his projects then they would be taking federal government jobs and I don't think that is gonna happen..

This was the past and the liberal media keeps spinning it.. We will have to see how the Trump organization moves forward..The jury IMO is still out..
