Another agency that seems to be out of control when it comes to taxpayer's money..

    https://weather.com/news/news/2018-0...urricane-maria

WLRN said the average weekly market rate for a Fascination passenger can range from $370 to $1,200. With the ship only half-occupied during the FEMA mission, the investigation revealed FEMA was paying $5,959 in taxpayer money per passenger per week during the four-month agreement.

FEMA did not reply to requests for comment when asked by WLRN.

"The U.S. Government hired a foreign registered corporation that uses foreign registered vessels with foreign workers (working in the U.S. but not paying U.S. income tax)," cruise industry researcher Ross Klein also told WLRN. "And because the corporation is offshore, and the ship is offshore, the company pays virtually no income tax on the contract – now that is a sweet deal.”

As estimated death toll rises for Hurricane Maria (aka 'Trump's Katrina'), heads need to roll

The list of heads*that should roll like Trump’s tossed paper towels should surely start with our erstwhile commander in chief’s. His botched ‘chiefiness’ was on display when he*finally*showed up in Puerto Rico on October 3, 2017. Remember, Maria made landfall on September 20. It took him two weeks to drag his ass to Puerto Rico to exhibit his*braggadociousness.

While there, he chortled about the death numbers and patted himself and Gov.*Ricardo Rosselló on the back for a job well done.

Do you remember watching the*clown show below?

Almost a year and a half after the hurricane devastated the island, the people and the island are still reeling from the carnage.

"It is more devastating than many of us realized": Congressional delegation visits Puerto Rico
San Juan, Puerto Rico — Over the weekend, Puerto Rico welcomed more than 30 members of Congress — the largest congressional delegation to ever visit the island. The contingent of Democratic lawmakers set foot on Puerto Rican soil during a trying time for the U.S. territory, still grappling with a prolonged debt-crisis and recovering from two destructive storms.
"It is more devastating than many of us realized. I'm glad that we came," Rep. Tony Cárdenas, D-California, told CBS News. "The reason why we came is to touch, feel and smell and understand with our hearts and our minds what the heck is going on in Puerto Rico."
"The fact that we as Congress have approved tens of billions of dollars and then a small, small amount of that money has actually been approved and actually has arrived in Puerto Rico is shocking," Cárdenas said. "And that, in my opinion, has continued to contribute to the demise of Puerto Rico's economy, to the death toll in Puerto Rico."
According to a study accepted by the Puerto Rican government, nearly 3,000 people died when Hurricane Maria struck the island — making it the deadliest U.S.-based natural disaster in 100 years. The island incurred about $90 billion in damages when the powerful storm hammered the U.S. territory in September of 2017, debilitating an already fragile economy.

Announcement of DOT federal funds to fix infrastructure damaged by the recent devastating hurricanes.

My question in all this is ...
Why are certain factions clamoring for a wall, at the cost of many BILLIONS of dollars, while the infrastructure in this country is in shambles. Bridges, roads, sewers, water systems all in need of extensive repairs. And the stalemate continues to build a wall that will do nothing to enhance the citizens everyday life.

DOT Announces $705 Million for Repairing Infrastructure Ravaged by Disasters
The Federal Highway Administration will dedicate more than $705 million in emergency relief funds to help 34 states and three territories rebuild infrastructure mangled by natural disasters.
The funds, announced Feb. 5, are meant to help the states, American Samoa, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands repair roads and bridges that have been damaged by floods, storms and other natural disasters.
About $153 million (more than one-fifth of the total sum) will be dedicated to repairing infrastructure ravaged by hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria in 2017. Puerto Rico received nearly $139 million to repair damage caused by Irma and Maria, both of which hit the island in quick succession in September. DOT made $40 million in “quick release” emergency relief funds available to Puerto Rico to assist with repairing damage Sept. 28, 2017.

Puerto Rico still is working to rebuild after the storms, which left millions without power.
    Years later
Or as they say ... a dollar short and a day late.

Every day I shake my head in disbelief over the things that are said. Is there no moral compass in this administration ? Are there no feelings towards those in need ?

Trump Opposes Further Disaster Aid for Battered Puerto Rico
President Donald Trump's opposition to further disaster aid for hurricane-devastated Puerto Rico hardened on Tuesday as he told GOP allies at a Capitol Hill meeting that the U.S. island territory has gotten too much rebuilding money compared with mainland states like Florida and Texas.
Trump's ardent opposition to additional Puerto Rico funding sets up a showdown with House Democrats, who insist that a $13 billion to $14 billion disaster aid package that's a top priority for southern Republicans won't advance without further aid for the island.
Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said Trump told Republicans at a closed-door luncheon on Tuesday that aid for Puerto Rico "is way out of proportion to what Texas and Florida and others have gotten."

    Corruption. Fraud.
It runs rampant throughout our system.

FBI arrests 2 FEMA officials in Puerto Rico and former CEO of Cobra Energy for defrauding the government after Hurricane Maria
The FBI just arrested two FEMA officials in Puerto Rico as well as the former CEO of Cobra Energy for defrauding the federal government in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
The FEMA official in Puerto Rico, in charge of power restoration after Hurricane Maria, has been arrested by the FBI, as has the fmr. CEO of Cobra Energy (which got $1.8B in contracts) & a 2nd FEMA official...all accused of enriching themselves & defrauding the fed govt.
