They are the lucky few. Many others still can't escape, and many do not have food, water or shelter.
I can't believe some archaic law is now holding up supplies from getting to those in need.

I want to add this story about lifting of the "Jones Act" that Mr. Trump does not want to do, citing "a lot of people that work in the shipping industry…don’t want the Jones Act lifted."
Yet it was lifted for Houston and parts of Florida that were ravaged by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Is there a double standard here ?
Maybe the fact that the people of Puerto Rico are US citizens, but they can't vote in our election process ?

Help is needed and it's all about business interests ?

President Donald Trump has made it clear his administration isn't planning to allow any additional outside aid to get into Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday afternoon, the president cited business interests as the reason for refusing calls from lawmakers and activists to allow international organizations and governments to ship aid to the island.

Have you ever been to Puerto Rico?? I was there for Six months when I was in the service..The port is not that big.. The airports are not that big and they all have been damaged.. You can't have a free for all trying to get supplies in so they can go on TV and brag about it..It is gonna take a long time.. But they will members here who will listen to the liberal media and blame Trump.Thats what they do.. The Navy is down there and doing what they can.. Home Depot after Irma hit Florida sent down over a 1000 truckloads of supplies to Florida.. Same as Texas.. All deliveries made by land..There are no bridges to Puerto Rico. Another good charity ,I think the name is Samaritans purse or something like that has made a deal with Lowe's to get supplies to the people that need it..

No, I haven't been there. But my Pastor is from P.R. and he goes back quite frequently. Last time was for hurricane Irma and he was stuck there for an extra 4 days until the airport reopened.

Now since you think Trump is getting bashed ( again ) then explain why he lifted the Jones Act for Houston and Florida, but won't for P.R. ?
Don't be defensive, just explain what is different between the storms that ravished Texas and Florida, and now P.R. ?

But never mind anyway ... it's lifted ( the Jones Act ) as of this morning.
The White House announced early Thursday that President Trump has agreed to waive the Jones Act, which will temporarily lift shipping restrictions on Puerto Rico and enable the hurricane-ravaged island to receive necessary aid.

The waiver from the shipping law, which requires American-made and operated vessels to transport cargo between U.S. ports, will only last for 10 days and goes into effect immediately.

Whole lot different when you have land deliveries.. There is only so much room in Puerto Rico for deliveries..
