    Default Winter 2018

Well we usually have a thread going about the weather and this year the weather has been like winter like.. But early.. We went into the deep freeze on Christmas eve and finally got above the freezing mark briefly on tues and yesterday was like a spring day topping out around 50.. Right now we are at 60 degrees and we have heavy rain Tomorrow morning at this time we will be under winter storm warnings for sleet, freezing rain and snow.. But the big thing will be the temps.. Right now 60 going up to 66 and this time tomorrow it suppose to be near 20 and down to 4 by tomorrow night.. I guess they call it a "quick" freeze.. End of Feb we are going south.. out of the cold for a few weeks. Come on St Paddy's day..

Here in the southwest it will go down in the record books as the winter season with no winter. We got a small amount of rain Wednesday, first in three months. Very high mountains got a dusting of snow.

We had a storm pass through last week. Fresh snow in the higher elevations and rain in the valley.

It is so bone dry here because in my area the monsoon season was very mild although other parts of the state got slammed. But now the whole state is already in a drought.

Plenty of rain today. Temps in the 60's, so all the old snow has melted and the rain has washed the streets of the road salt.
By tomorrow night, the temps will drop into the 20's with a brisk wind blowing.

Went to Costco Wednesday and found the plowed snow piles about 15 feet high and several hundred feet long. They will be there until April.

Snow ! We might get some, might not where I am at. Temps are just right for snow, but forecast for next several days shows whatever we get will be gone in a day or two.

19 degrees here. A cold front came in from the east and I couldn't believe how fast the temps dropped late yesterday afternoon. Completely under cloud cover but no chance of moisture.

There are many that don't listen to warnings from the national weather service.. These are pictures of a stream that flows into the Neversink river then into the Delaware River near me. This is about ten miles from us.. Ice Jams can come up quickly and can be very dangerous.. Always listen to the warnings..

6 Hudson Valley Residents Saved From Scary Ice Jam

On Friday, the Pine Kill stream experienced an ice jam where the Route 209 bridge intersects with County Route 163 in Westbrookville, in the town of Mamakating, according to New York State Police.

The Sullivan County home, seen in the pictures posted below, was quickly surrounded by ice and fast-moving water on all sides due to the ice, police say.

The Westbrookville Fire Department successfully rescued six people who live in the home. No injuries were reported.
