Default I am writing today with some wonderful news

An email I received from Bernie Sanders. And I do think he takes much credit for this happening. That and Jeff probably want to keep the unions out!

Today as a result of your help, we have won a major victory for American workers.

This morning, after a long campaign, Jeff Bezos of Amazon announced that the company would raise its minimum wage for all United States employees to $15 an hour — a move that will impact more than 350,000 full-time, part-time and temporary workers.

I want to thank the Amazon workers who worked with us on this campaign and the more than 100,000 of you who signed a petition demanding that Mr. Bezos do exactly what he announced today. This is what happens when we stand up and fight for justice together.

I also want to give credit where credit is due, and that is to applaud Jeff Bezos for his decision today. It is no secret that I have been a harsh critic of the wage and employment practices of Amazon and Mr. Bezos. Today he did the right thing. And the decision could very well be a shot heard around the world because there is no reason why other profitable corporations should not follow his lead.

The time is now for Walmart, McDonald's and the fast food industry, the airline industry, and the retail industry in general to start paying their workers a living wage — at least $15 per hour. The American people are tired of having to subsidize profitable corporations who pay their workers wages that are so low that many of them are forced to go on food stamps, Medicaid, subsidized housing and other federal programs. That has got to change, and Mr. Bezos’ decision today is a major step forward in that direction.

When I talk about the political revolution — people standing up in their communities and at their workplace and fighting for change — I mean exactly what the Amazon workers and people everywhere did to achieve this victory.

But this fight is far from over because it is not just Amazon workers who deserve a $15 minimum wage. No worker in America should be forced to live in poverty.

I am more convinced than ever after this morning’s news that if we continue to fight for each other — for economic, social, racial and environmental justice — we will win.

    In solidarity,

    Bernie Sanders

Amazon to Raise Minimum Wage to $15 for All U.S. Workers

SEATTLE — Amazon said on Tuesday that it would raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour for its United States employees, a rare acknowledgment that it was feeling squeezed by political pressure and a tight labor market. The raises apply for part-time workers and those hired through temporary agencies.

The company said it would also lobby Washington to raise the federal minimum wage, which has been set at $7.25 for almost a decade.

The new wages will apply to more than 250,000 Amazon employees, including those at the grocery chain Whole Foods, as well as the more than 100,000 seasonal employees it plans to hire for the holiday season. The change will not apply to contract workers. It goes into effect on Nov. 1.

    Targeting Jeff Bezos Worked

"Last month,*Bloomberg*columnist Noah Smith*argued*that Bernie Sanders’s recent agitation against Amazon and its CEO Jeff Bezos, specifically his “Stop BEZOS Act,” “seems to be much more about grandstanding and pointing fingers than about actual solutions to help vulnerable American workers.”

The internet never forgets, and after Amazon’s announcement today that it would*raise its workers’ starting wages*across the board to $15 — affecting over 250,000 employees plus 100,000 seasonal workers — people were also happy to*note*that Smith had been proven extremely wrong.

The raise comes after Sanders has waged a campaign of publicly shaming Bezos and Amazon. Bezos is the world’s richest man, worth $165 billion. Bezos might become a trillionaire in our lifetimes. The city of Flint still doesn’t have clean drinking water and Jeff Bezos might not be bothered to pick up a billion dollars if he found it lying in the street."

Well, maybe things aren't as they appeared. What a snake.

Amazon eliminates bonuses and stock awards for hourly workers
The company announced Tuesday that it will raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour for all US employees. But tucked away in the announcement was the fact that Amazon will phase out its bonus and stock award programs for its hourly workers. The change was first reported by Bloomberg Wednesday.
The company maintains that workers will make more money under the new system. All hourly workers will get a bump in pay, even if they are already making $15 an hour.
"The significant increase in hourly cash wages more than compensates for the phase out of incentive pay and RSUs [restricted stock units]," a spokesperson said. "In addition, because it's no longer incentive-based, the compensation will be more immediate and predictable."

The company wouldn't share details about its restricted stock unit program, though typically it's considered part of an employee's compensation and vests after a period of time. That perk could be pretty valuable for workers, especially since Amazon's stock price more than doubled over the past year.

Yes ABFwife,Yes...and you won't hear a ''PEEP'' about this out of that fake socialist corporate DNC sheepdog Bernie Sanders...I guarantee it...

The average rent in Seattle,Amazon's headquarters,is $1,600 per month for a one bedroom apartment...If a worker earns $15.00 per hour and works 7 hours each day he or she earns $105.00...That's $525.00 per week and $2,100 each month before taxes...After taxes this worker probably earns $1,700 per month...No wonder Seattle has one of the highest homeless rates in the nation.

According to Money magazine's calculations,it takes Bezos just under 9 seconds to earn what Amazon's median worker does in a ''YEAR''...Let that sink in for a second...Wow is right..

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index...Bezos net worth on January 1st was $99 billion...On May 1st,it was $132 billion, meaning it rose $33 billion...If you divide that difference by the 120 days in that period, you find that he made $275 million a day...Divide that by 24 hours in a day to get about $11.5 million per hour, the equivalent of roughly $191,000 per minute, and here's the ''CLINCHER'',$3,182 EVERY SECOND.

$15.00 per hour is a ''JOKE''...No worker in any major US city could cover their basic needs...Food...Shelter...Medical Care...etc earning $15.00 per hour...And the fact that fake socialist corporate DNC sheepdog Bernie Sanders would say this form of ''WAGE SLAVERY'' is a great accomplishment is further proof that the Democratic Party is a FAILED CORRUPT useless organization which acts as ''ENABLERS'' for the Criminal Corporate Elites in this Country...Just like their ''BUDDIES'' across the aisle...Both Parties are Despicable and need to be put out of their Arrogance and Corruption!!!!!

The whole minimum wage fiasco is part and parcel of the Corporate Capitalists ''Business as Usual''...Throw the working class a ''Few Crumbs'' and we'll get on our knees and thank them for their generosity...BS...This is the swan song of Capitalist death throes and equally the swan song of ''FAKE LIBERALS and PROGRESSIVES'' like Bernie Sanders...Hillary Clinton...Barack Obama...Cory 'Spartacus' Booker...Chuck 'Wall St.' Schumer...Nancy'Stock Market' Pelosi just to name a few...Who want to SAVE their Comfortable place in this Corporate Capitalistic Society.

All of us have undergone a journey toward heightened political consciousness...some early in their lives...some late...Some have had to travel farther than others...Let's give ourselves credit for having a mind that's OPEN enough to at least consider New ideas or alternatives to the absolute corruption that is the United States Government as it is TODAY....

Was up with the rant......am sure Bernie would love to see the minimum wage somewhere around $25.00 per-hour and than he would be regarded as "NUTS" Bernie is not prefect and he has to play the Capitalism game in a Capitalist World.......hell even $25.00 per-hour in todays world (USA) isn't that much IMO for say a family of Four (4) with a stay at home mom (use to be that way) and two(2) kids....on step above poverty IMO......IMO the average worker should make $80.000 base on a forty hour work week....for today it not good to be a Millionaire, but a Billionaire....

You see Bezo give Bernie what he wanted ($15.00 paper-hour) and took away the rest...looks like a hero to the Liberals in Washington, but in reality he's not....it's a Capitalist World and coming out as a "Democratic Socialist" is usually the kiss of death for a politician in the good old USA ......

And Bernie may not be as Liberal or as Socialist as we would like, but tell me who else is the working man/women going to turn too? who's got your back......maybe nobody in Washington.....IMO Bernie is are only hope.....he's not perfect!

''This is how democracy and capitalism are supposed to work'',proclaimed that supposedly LIBERAL iconic New York Times in an article titled ''Amazon's Surrender is Inspiring''...More BS from Corporate Media...Democracy and Corporate Capitalism only ''WORK'' by Sham and Lies...

The ''Democracy'' part is the staged publicity operation showcasing the supposed benevolence of billionaires like Bezos, and in the same moment, which Senator Sanders absolutely knew about BUT never mentioned because it didn't fit his agenda, the Capitalism part TAKES IT AWAY with work speedups and CUTS of all kinds...That's how it works for the RULING CLASS...One step forward, two steps back...No wonder the Times is inspired...To break free of the FORCES pulling them apart(democrats and republicans),the working class in this country need Independent Organizations and a Political Agenda that THEY(us)can call OUR OWN.

And by the way,one should at least remind that Corporate Fake Left-Wing New York Times that Democracy is the antithesis of Capitalism...And also reminded the Times that Bezos himself could not have possibly accumulated his gigantic wealth without the brutal exploitation of the working class people at his company...$15.00 hourly wage is a complete fraud...Yet,every politician from BOTH PARTIES is singing his PRAISES...These ''PRIVILEGED ELITE'' applauding this farce spend more on LUNCH than a typical amazon worker makes in a day...Such Shameless Arrogance and Hubris...The working class must not be FOOLED by this...

In another curious development,Senator Bernie Sanders has(for some unexplained reason)DROPPED his demands for higher taxes on Amazon, despite the fact that Amazon received $789 million as a result of this years tax cuts...QUID PRO QUO...Corporate Greed is still on course and it doesn't matter who the ''Puppet Politician'' is...Nothing has changed except a GROWING Class Consciousness of the Working Class.

I think that I have mention in the past that there is no difference between todays Democratic Party and the Republican Party, I also have said there we don't really have "Free Speech" and that are MEDIA today is pure propaganda "operation Mockingbird" is here and in full force (https://allthatsinteresting.com/operation-mockingbird) and the New York Times is part of it for sure........you see the establishment (elite the rich, the !%) control the media and our politicians and money is power and what can yo say about power......

"Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Also remember sometimes you have to play along if you want to change things....is that what Bernie is doing I don't know.....remember he is a Independent form Vermont not a Democrat....but to run as a Independent is the kiss of death in politics isn't it.....personally I think the world would be a different place if Henry Wallace became President instead of Truman but they the 1% made sure Wallace didn't become President and FDR went along with it for the real people in power here in America are not in Washington D.C. they are invisible or are they?

Hmm. Go back to my first post. This is exactly what I said!!

The Hidden Message of Amazon’s $15 Wage: ‘You Don’t Need a Union’
Earlier this week Amazon announced a $15 an hour minimum wage for its employees in the United States. As Amazon's founder and CEO Jeff Bezos acknowledged in a statement, the decision was at least in part an address to “critics”: The company “thought hard about what we wanted to do, and decided we want to lead."

But “leadership” on worker issues has a distinct meaning in a tech world that tends to see itself as exceptional, largely free of the labor dynamics that characterize more traditional American business. The wage hike can be understood as a way to head off union organizing—a small concession to put workers at ease and craft Amazon's public image on its own terms.

Wave a little carrot to calm them down and reduce the threat of Unionization. They giveth, they taketh away just as easy.
