Default Jobs added and jobs lost !

For all the noise about adding manufacturing jobs, it seems those particular jobs have not materialized.
Plenty of low pay burger flipping jobs have been added, but those jobs that can support a family seem to have disappeared.
What happened to the great claim that "manufacturing is roaring back".

August Job Losses Third-Worst of 2018, Manufacturing Hit Hardest
The outplacement firm of Challenger, Gray & Christmas on Thursday released its job-cuts report for August showing that a total of 38,472 jobs were cut last month, an increase of 41.8% month over month and the third-highest total of the year to date. More than 60,000 job cuts were made in March, the highest monthly total since April 2016. Last month’s firings were 13.7% higher than in August 2017.

Job losses are highest in the industrial goods manufacturing sector, where 10,188 cuts were announced. Challenger, Gray noted that half of the 18,464 announced manufacturing job cuts so far this year are down to Johnson Controls, which revealed plans to cut 9,200 by 2020 while hiring 900 new salespeople.
The second-highest level of announced job cuts came in the consumer products manufacturing sector, where companies said they have plans to ax 4,716 workers. For the year to date, this sector has lost 26,926 jobs, an increase of 184.5% compared with the first eight months of 2017.

For the first eight months of the year, employers have slashed 310,773 jobs, compared to a total of 289,132 in the first eight months of last year, an increase of 7.5%.

The Orange grifter had his tiny hands on it. There lies (many lies) the problem.

Many of us know that employment hasn't been all sunshine and roses as this administration claims.
    Sure, the numbers are down.
But wasn't the argument during the last administration that all those news jobs were burger flipping jobs and other service oriented type employment ?
We seen the Carrier fiasco. They were good paying jobs.
GM closing plants will decimate several areas in the country. Don't sell your house !
AT&T lays off 25,000 people. But that tax break worked well for corporate America !
Here is some lay offs and closings most haven't heard about.
Read the first article which details the broken promises made by this administration.
The other articles shows a few of the many plants closing and job losses.
( my personal disclaimer ... I am not in favor of using E85 for many reasons )

Corn Plus ethanol plant in Winnebago closing
The Corn Plus ethanol plant in Winnebago, Minn., is the latest victim of an industry rocked by low prices and actions by the Trump administration that have cut ethanol use and collapsed ethanol prices.
Corn Plus is owned by farmer shareholders and is one of the oldest plants in the state. About 40 employees at the plant will be laid off.

CLOVERDALE - Ethanol production at an Indiana biofuels plant will be stopped, 50 workers will be laid off, and the owner blames Environmental Protection Agency policies and the oil refining industry. South Dakota-based POET Energy announced the plant in Cloverdale will be placed in “idle production” within several weeks, leading to the layoffs.

GRAFTON, N.D. The Alchem ethanol plant here is closing, at least temporarily. The plant, which has 40 employees and has operated for 25 years, will suspend operations indefinitely.

The ethanol industry has fallen on hard times. The President had promised to help, but so far, no help has arrived to stop the closures and lay-offs.

U.S. policy uncertainty forces closure of 2nd biodiesel plant this month: Now, REG’s New Boston plant feels the axe
In another small but sharp blow to the Trump Administration’s strategy for American manufacturing revival, news arrives from Texas of a second smaller biodiesel shuttering owing to “ challenging business conditions and continued federal policy uncertainty,” as Renewable Energy Group phrased it in announcing the closure of its15 million gallons per year New Boston, Texas biorefinery.
For now, there are three opportunities, all in the hands of the US federal government, that could provide more support for the renewable fuels industry and the advanced manufacturing job growth.

    1. More positive action from the Trump Administration on trade that could re-open export opportunities for fuels or soybeans.

    2. EPA action on biomass-based diesel demand targets.

    3. Action from the Congress on the renewal of the biodiesel tax credit.

The trucking industry has lost some jobs this year. Is this an economic forecast, or is the industry itself in turmoil ?

More than 3,000 truck drivers have lost their jobs in 2019 as the transportation 'bloodbath' unfolds. Here's the full list of bankrupt trucking companies
Truck drivers are suffering in 2019 — especially those who own or work at small businesses.
Rates in the spot market, in which retailers and manufacturers buy trucking capacity as they need it rather than through a contract, sank by about 18% year-over-year in June.
Here are the trucking companies that have gone bankrupt in 2019, and how many truckers who are now out of a job. We used the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's company-snapshot tool to measure how many truck drivers worked at each company.
Here is the link that lists all the truckling companies that closed this year and the number of employees they had.

Very very scary and there doesn't seem to be anyone talking about this except trucking and business sites.

You are right. Some are saying business is great, jobs aplenty, the economy is the best ...
But underlying it all are the signs that not all is well.

2019 Trucking Company Closures So Far Have Doubled All of 2018
More trucking firms have shut down during the first six months of 2019 than in all of 2018, a result of a softer freight market and the broader effects of tariffs on imported goods, a freight market expert said.
“Tariffs are terrible taxes,” Donald Broughton, principal of Broughton Capital of Missouri, told Transport Topics on Sept. 5. “They are one of many if not the largest negative factors in our economy.”
Broughton believes tariffs are partially responsible for the decreased freight demand, and coupled with lower spot prices, have contributed to the trucking firm failures.
In the first half of 2019, he said 640 freight company closed their doors. On average, these companies each had about 30 drivers, resulting in 20,075 trucks being pulled off the road. Compare that to 2018, when freight was booming. During the first half of that year, Broughton said 175 companies closed — each averaging about nine drivers — taking 1,550 trucks off the road. For all of 2018, 310 trucking companies closed, Broughton said.

Remember back when, during the Obama administration, shouts about jobs being added and they were all "burger flipping" jobs.
Well, rest assured. Wendy's has come though for President Trump and added more jobs, just for him.
    Way to go Wendy's.

Wendy's Is Hiring 20K New Workers
Wendy's plans to roll out breakfast offerings like the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit and the Breakfast Baconator at all 6,000 or so of its US restaurants next year—and it needs 20,000 new employees to serve them. The fast food chain currently serves breakfast at around 300 locations. CEO Todd Penegor said Monday that the breakfast will provide "incredible growth opportunities," but the launch won't be cheap, CNN reports. The company, which plans to spend around $20 million on the breakfast expansion, has lowered its financial outlook for 2019.
