Hence this is the front company for C&S who is providing the Mulah for all the companies being gobbled up.
Hasn't YRC been owned by some dutch holding company also...Maybe had something to do with DHL. Or was it the Dutch bank or something?

Where I work[when I work] in Newburgh NY,there is a large C&S grocery warehouse where I see lots of Stop&Shop trailers coming and going all day long..These trailers are being pulled by Webster tractors which is somewhat related to C&S..There are quite a few Stop&Shop stores in the NY metro area and I believe all this work is performed by C&S..They also have a perishable warehouse in Chester NY and they just put on like 50 drivers..

yes, I had heard they built a large wharehouse their in NY I haven't ran out their in 10 years since retired. But your right about webster they used to be out of worcster/boston area and moved to Vermont and canned all their men who had alot of years in, hence became brattlboro haulage and kept growing WRJ,WEBSTER TRUCKING, I lost track of all the outfits he has now. Story goes that he has so many bad drivers that he keeps all these outfits seperate for law suite purposes. I know they hold the record here in town for roll overs on I-91 They actually took over my old companies warehouse here too, it was a clean warehouse now it's a **** hole I'm told. their drivers always complain but won't come to the table, just last week I tryed hooking one of their warehouse guys up with the president of our local and he whimped out. he will regret it when he's a little older and can't cut the mustard anymore.

S & S Freetown Manfi Leasing is a DiSilva union company. Webster Trucking is also a DiSilva company that was union and did supermarket work in Mass. The original DiSilva yard was in Somerville Mass across from the First National warehouse. It is still there . I think the name Manfi came from the Zayres/Ames warehouse that was in mansfield mass. There was a Hutchinson DiSilva company that ran out of the S&S meat warehouse in Marlboro at one time.

AHOLD is a dutch company that owns Stop and Shop sure but they have done better for the company than past ownership has. As far as running into drivers for Stop and Shop without union rep. thats a new one we have no drivers out of New Haven its closed and sold and a different company running out of that terminal. All of the tractors that say Stop and Shop except for the Macks that are construction trailer pullers are Union drivers. I have never seen anything different unless you were looking at one of the old EDART tractors they never took the letters off of. As far as C & S goes, someone tried handing out Union literature at the Suffield Location and they moved the warehouse workers parking lot inside of the gaurded lot so they cant hand out or paper the cars. It is funny because half the lot now is concrete barriers that block doors and take up trailer parking, while across the street they have a humongous empty lot now. I am a 3rd generation Teamster and find it puzzling the lengths they go through to stop a simple talk. Then again they know it doesnt take much to see the light of day.

Lots of info here bringing back fond memories. I worked for 357 Corp as a driver in Chicopee MA Stop&Shop grocery warehouse. When it closed we could either dovetail at Readville MA (those guys worked for 357 Corp as well) or ENDTAIL at North Haven CT warehouse (those guys were employed by S&S Company). When Readville closed all drivers transferred to new Freetown MA facility (built to replace Readville and North Haven CT) which is near southernmost part of MA, but is still in Boston's Local 25. Strange? North Haven CT warehouse closed finally. I don't recall if those guys were offered any work in Freetown MA. Bozzutos in freezer section of North Haven CT warehouse now. C&S began in Worcester MA from what I was told, and have been successfully thwarting all efforts to unionize their warehouses. C&S contracts trucking to DaSilva companies: Brattleboro Haulage, BH Trucking, Webster Trucking. DaSilva also owns Manfi Leasing which employs Freetown MA S&S Teamster drivers.Google "Cashman and DaSilva" for interesting reading material.
