Wow, another beer distributor on strike. I had not heard about this one.

“Quality Beverage and elected representatives from Teamsters Local 170 have successfully concluded negotiations on a five-year collective bargaining agreement that will return our union employees to work on Monday,” as stated in a Sunday press release from Scott Farmelant, whose Mills Public Relations represents Quality Beverage.

Forty-five drivers and warehouse workers have been on strike at Quality Beverage, in the Myles Standish Industrial Park, since May 26 after employees said the five-year contract offered by the company did not ensure that individual contributions to medical-plan premiums will not rise during the contract’s duration.

Since then, strikers had been surrounding the outside of the 525 Myles Standish Blvd. building 24/7 holding up signs and protesting the new contract.

Teamsters Union Local 170 business agent Sean Foley, who represents the employees that had been on strike, said during the strike that the new five-year was unsatisfactory because it didn’t guarantee that the company would not arbitrarily increase each member’s contribution to his or her health care plan.
