Default Safety first: UPS driver goes 31 years without a traffic accident

Quote:
All good kids love milk” and for 31 years, Virginia Hooper has taken that phrase to heart.

Hooper is a driver for UPS and on Tuesday celebrated the anniversary of that many years of driving without an accident.

Hooper is a native of Greenville, lives in Atmore and works out of the UPS distribution center in Evergreen

Congratulations to this lady. What do the 2 million mile plus drivers have in common? This is not a set up for a joke, I am just asking what do the accident free drivers have in common. The biggest trait I see is they focus and cut their risk where ever they can. They are not the fastest, they won't be the first but they consistently go through the day at one speed.

I think you can teach a driver all the little rhymes and procedures in the world but if he is rushing through the job and worrying about whats next, trouble is sure to sneak up on him.

my thoughts exactly. I sure as hell am not thinking about those rhymes when im heading down the icy road in a blizzard, its all about taking your time to do the job safely. Sadly with ups(and im sure other companies) management harassing us more about our production numbers i feel alot of younger drivers wont see these 25 and 30 yr safe driving awards, if they even last 5 to 10 yrs. Im hitting 15 yrs safe driving next yr. but im of the old school attitude of getting the job done safely at my own pace and numbers be damned.
