Amtrak train collides with tractor-trailer in Maryland, bringing MARC commuter delays
Shortly after 8 p.m., a Montgomery County Fire Department spokesman said one track was being reopened for MARC train traffic.

UPDATE, 5:56 p.m.:

Olivia Irvin, an Amtrak spokeswoman, said in an email that “a vehicle obstructing the tracks in Gaithersburg, Maryland came into contact with Amtrak Capitol Limited train 29 at approximately 4:40 pm on its way from Washington, D.C. to Chicago.”

“Due to a fuel leak from the vehicle strike, the local fire department has ordered an evacuation of the train,” the email said. “All passengers will be transferred to a nearby center while the fire department investigates the incident.”
