Default Teamsters, Basic Crafts Unions Reach Deal With Producers

Hollywood Teamsters and four other Basic Crafts Unions have reached a tentative agreement with producers on a three-year successor deal to the master contract.

The new deal — which covers about 5,000 below-the-line employees — was concluded Thursday after four days weeks of negotiations between the unions and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

The deal is along the same lines as the most recent agreements negotiated by SAG-AFTRA, the Directors Guild of America, the Writers Guild of America, and the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, with unspecified annual wage hikes and an increase in contributions to the pension and health fund.

I put this news here because the original article mentioned local 399, Teamsters and part of the contract.

Hollywood’s Teamsters Local 399 has won a $200,000 grievance settlement against HBO’s Big Little Lies. The money is being paid out to the dozens of transportation drivers who worked on the first season of the Emmy-winning limited series.
After months of negotiating with the company, Dayan and Farnell were able to settle the grievance and won more than $200,000 in wages to be paid retroactively back to the show’s original drivers. The checks ranged in amounts based on how long they worked on the initial season.

Teamsters Local 399, which represents drivers, mechanics and other Hollywood crafts workers, said it has reached a tentative agreement for a new contract with the major studios and networks.

The union announced Monday that the new contract would succeed a previous three-year deal reached in 2015. Details of the new agreement for film and TV work haven’t been released. Union members are expected to vote on the proposed contract in the weeks ahead.

    Contract ratified Teamsters local 399.

Teamsters Local 399 Ratifies New Film And TV Pact
Members of Hollywood’s Teamsters Local 399 have ratified a new film and TV contract. Terms of the new three-year pact, which are retroactive to August 1, have not been made public but are believed to be in line with IATSE’s proposed new agreement. Ratification ballots for the new IATSE contact will be counted October 10.
The Teamsters’ pact with management’s AMPTP, known as the “Black Book,” covers studio drivers and animal handlers. Voting was conducted electronically, and 73% of those who cast ballots voted to ratify. Local 399 leaders had warned members that a “no” vote on the contract would not only authorize a strike, but could “end up chasing work to other jurisdictions.”
Ballots for a separate Local 399 contract covering location managers will be counted Wednesday. Negotiations for a Local 399 contract covering casting directors will begin later this month.

The Basic Crafts unions, which negotiated with Local 399, are in the process of a ratification vote. They include the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 40, Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 78, Studio Utility Employees Local 724, and Plasterers and Cement Masons Local 755.
