We have tried to stay away from Chinese made crap for a while now.. Just last year we had gone down to Jersey to a Stop and Shop supermarket to pick up organic Chicken and while there we picked up quite a few bags of organic vegetables..Maybe ten bags all together.. Came home,threw them in the freezer as we always do.. Few weeks later wife asked me to bring up a bag of broccoli and as I grabbed it and it caught my eye,China.. I checked the rest and most of it was from China.. WTF.. I always knew Shop Rite was getting crap from China but now it seems every super market is.. Lesson learned,check every label.. We wound up throwing 8 bags of frozen vegetables out..

Wow I have to say I have never seen organic produce from China! We have to watch that our produce comes from Mexico which I am not thrilled about but usually if it is organic, it is grown in the states. I have also tried to not buy Chinese products of any kind but almost everything comes from there. Even when I buy clothes in more upscale stores, guess where they come from!

The organic vegetables we bought were their store brand...I sent an email off to their corporate office but I never heard back from them..

Yes they were.. Stop & Shop is part of AHOLD corp.. They own a whole bunch of grocery chains mostly on the east coast..

It's high time we bring manufacturing jobs back to this country...It's high time we have all workers join Unions to make sure they're protected,get proper pay and benefits.etc....We've done it before,We can do it again!!!!!

Look around at the American retail scene.
We even have a thread about one of the largest importers of Chinese products ... Walmart. Yet a very large majority of people still shop there daily, adding to the problem.
Other stores like Christmas Tree Shops, At Home, Bed Bath & Beyond ... and so many clothing retailers.
We caused this decades ago. It won't change overnight. And it won't be cheap going back to US sourced products.
Another member mentioned this previously.
Bring all prescription medication manufacturing back to US soil. That should and can be done quickly. ( and keep labeling everything with country of origin )

It's also revealed the obvious weakness of our service and financial moneyed economy,dependent on it's production by foreign countries(china)...In this emergency,the US cannot even produce face masks for it's medical professionals and workers,let alone things of some complexity like ventilators that allow 'breath' for those suffering from lung infections,which is often the most damaging character of the virus...

Once the offshore country,''China'',manufactures them,they are then,rather than sent directly to US hospitals,who obviously are in dire need of them,sent to retailers who price them as they see fit and sell them to those who will pay the most for them...Ah yes,'Free Market PROFITS over PEOPLE Capitalism'...''You want to BREATHE...PAY UP''

As usual wiz, a thoughtful and provoking statement concerning our country and how it operates for the capitalists. Not for the average citizen.

Remove profit from my healthcare.

Clearly we can now see "money" isn't the real issue. The government is now in massive debt to finance their mistakes. The calls against universal healthcare resonate from the mouths of the clueless. Yet we now must pump out Trillions of dollars ( which we will pay with our tax dollars ) to cover for the wealthy capitalistic greed of buying the cheapest and selling to the highest bidder.

Your right wiz, profits over people ! What a shame some regular people don't see what is smacking them in the face.
It was never about "how to pay for it" ! It was always just a way to keep the billions rolling onto the wealthy elites pockets under the name of "healthcare".

I do believe that a lot of this work will come back. But I also remember someone in the previous administration saying those manufacturing jobs will never come back to the USA. Also remember the names that Trump was called for saying he wanted to bring back manufacturing to the USA. Some have short memories.
If anything we have learned over the last few weeks are just how important the little guy is. Hopefully the unions see this also because when this is over there will be those Corporate America thugs touting them selves on their backs to how THEY handled the pandemic.The little guy will be forgotten.
We will get through this and hopefully we all will be stronger including the unions. The unions built the middle class and hopefully they can do it again.
