been off site for awhile, but pertaining to this post, last update was we had our BA out of local 638 show organizer from the international around and they want to bring a team out to western No. Dak. will it work. All I can say is it cant hurt.
I drove through north central Pa the other day and I was amazed about the number of trucks related to the oil fields or as it is called "Fracking".. Not sure how much is union but I do remember someone from the town I live in going out there last year to work.. And knowing him from the past if it wasn't union it wasn't for him.. Haven't seen the guy around town anymore so he might have moved out there.. Fracking is going on all over the country and from what I have heard there is mucho money in it as long as one is willing to work..
Nothing posted here since November 2007?
Anything change since then?
Any oil field work that is Teamsters now?
There is work in the Gas and Oil fields to be had. Get used to being a Nomad. You have to follow the work brother. I keep in touch with a few of my crew from the "Ruby" and they are scattered all over. One of the hands is working for the same company (Associated Pipeline Contractors) we worked for here in Utah but he is in Texas now.....He was in Pennsylvania 2 months ago working for a different company! It is a crazy life and you will work long hours with little time off. I worked 4 1/2 months on the Ruby and had 5 days off in that entire time. Other than the 2 major holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I met a young lady at the mall last weekend that was working in a shop that was closing down in a few days. I told her how sorry I was she was losing her job and she told me she was a teamster and had worked on the pipeline here in NM. That work had finished so she had taken this job at the mall. She said the work was now in Texas and she was going.
