Maybe because the company doesn't listen, or care about them and they feel the choice of a union will make a difference.

All one needs to do is hear about the Fedex unionism drive and know the company lied to them after they voted.
Ask them if the those new cameras are used for disciplinary actions, when they were told they won't be.
Or if they still use contract carriers before using their own employees.

I'll take the union any day. Because we can make a change with them.
    The members can do that.
Can an employee change the way a company operates ?

Here is an anti-union post about this vote! Shows you the attitude of this company. Why am I posting this? To show what these few drivers dealt with in order to pass this vote! Again I say congratulations to the ones who voted to become Teamsters!!

XPO drivers in Cinnaminson, N.J., vote to join Teamsters
As a sprawling transportation and logistics concern, Greenwich, Conn.-based XPO has over 97,000 employees at 1,505 locations in 32 countries. Company Chairman and CEO Bradley Jacobs has often said he is opposed to union organization, and that the company itself is focused on creating the best possible workplace.

The Teamsters have been pushing to organize workers across XPO's range of port, freight, and warehouse facilities. In the most recent chapter of the saga, Teamsters representatives charged in a newspaper story on Sunday that XPO created unsafe working conditions for pregnant warehouse workers at a DC in Memphis, Tenn. XPO categorically denies the allegation, saying the allegations were fueled by Teamsters attempts to organize the facility.

In a statement about the vote, an XPO spokesperson said: "If the election stands, it will impact 24 drivers at our service center in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. It won't change the direct working relationship XPO enjoys with more than 45,000 employees across North America. The constructive relationship we have with our employees allows us to work directly together to serve our customers and make XPO an even better place to work."

And what makes you think the union will make anyone listen??

All anyone has to do is look at the way the union sold out the members
    at ups parcel and freight,....

The union will not listen to it's current members, why would anyone think they will listen to or help
    a new group??

All the union wants is the dues money and will let the new members wither
    and die on the vine,.

I can understand some of the negative comments about the union. But if you were looking at possibly joining the Teamster’s organization wouldn’t you really think twice about it especially with all the negativity that’s going on right now. I myself will agree it’s not a perfect organization however we the members have to take the action to change this. We need to be more involved ( just look at all the people who don’t take the time to vote but are quick to complain) by voting and electing our people we want to represent us the Teamsters. We were at one time a strong group who had power but in today’s world it seems easier to just roll with the flow and then complain because everything is not going the way we want.

We will only be as good and as strong as the members make it. We all need to get more involved and make this organization once again a proud and strong force to reckon with. Just my two cents worth.

Exactly what many of us have been saying on this site repeatedly. The union is only as strong as the members. Complaining doesn't change anything. You have to be involved. Still I would take a union job over a non union job any day!

The fact is that these XPO drivers voted to join the Teamsters. This thread is not about UPS.

This could actually be a good thing for UPS as well. With Hoffa and company trying to force a contract on the members that was actually voted down may force Hoffa to rethink his actions. And kudos to the guys in Cinnaminson.

For once in your life, stop complaining about our Union and do something about it, be positive and become a Leader under the ranks and File.
Remember you yourself is the Union, you want change? Then involve yourself, get elected and present your positive ideas...

This is really making the news! And it is very clear what XPO thinks of the Teamsters!

XPO drivers in N.J. agree to join Teamsters

Drivers at XPO Logistics, Inc.’s (NYSE:XPO) facility in Cinnaminson, N.J., an eastern suburb of Philadelphia, have agreed to join Teamsters union Local 107, the Teamsters said. The vote, by a 19-4 margin, will affect 24 drivers in Cinnaminson.

The development is the latest in an ongoing battle between the union and the Greenwich, Conn.-based transport and logistics giant over organizing its transport and warehousing employees. Since 2014, XPO employees have organized in six cities, and the company has prevailed in nine others. Petitions were withdrawn in five additional markets, a sign the Teamsters believed it would not have the votes to succeed in those markets.
The Teamsters are attempting to expand into organizing global supply chain operations, and have made no secret that penetrating XPO’s distribution center networks in the U.S. and Europe is a top priority. For his part, XPO Chairman and CEO Brad Jacobs has little regard for unions, and even less for the Teamsters, which has staged raucous anti-XPO rallies at public events attended by Jacobs and other executives.
