I wouldn't argue that point either. We have numerous examples of Wal-Mart spankings in this thread. Those democrat votes count for something.

Walmart loses another round in court. While it's a victory, I wouldn't expect payment to come forth anytime soon.
Lawyers ( and walmart ) have a way to tie up appeals for a long time.

Wal-Mart intentionally failed to pay hundreds of truck drivers in California the minimum wage, a federal jury decided Wednesday, awarding the drivers $54 million in damages and opening up the retail giant to penalties.
The seven jurors returned the verdict in a lawsuit accusing the company of not properly paying drivers in accordance with California law for activities that included inspecting and washing their trucks and for layovers. Civil penalties will be determined by a judge.
The company argued that the drivers are paid for activities that include those tasks and that they are not working during layovers. An lawyer for Wal-Mart didn't immediately return calls seeking comment on the verdict.
Attorneys for the more than 800 drivers who worked for Wal-Mart between October 2005 and October 2015 were seeking $72 million in damages, the bulk of it for layovers. They said during trial that additional damages and penalties could push the total amount Wal-Mart owed to more than $150 million.
Wal-Mart pays drivers $42 for 10-hour overnight layovers as an extra benefit, but it does not control their time during that period, Edelman said. Drivers are free to go to the movies, exercise or do other activities, he said.

The company has said its drivers are among the best-paid in the industry, with some making more than $100,000 a year.
Really ? I would like to see the drivers that make 100G a year. All five of them, right after they crawl out from under the desk.

It's been awhile since we had news on Walmart. Not much has changed, except we, the taxpayers, still pay billions each year to subsidize Walmart's low pay, part time workforce.

At Walmart's (WMT) annual shareholders meeting on Friday, some employees took the stage to voice their grievances against the company about pay and advancement.
The associate argued that many employees who work part-time wish to increase their hours and advance their career at Walmart with a full-time position, but the company instead hires more part-time workers.
A Walmart spokesman said earlier today the workforce is primarily comprised of full-time positions, adding: "Just last year, we converted more than 150,000 associates from part-time to full-time in Walmart U.S. alone."

Amy Ritter, who said she advocates for Walmart workers through the group, Making Change at Walmart (MCAW), also spoke at the meeting, stating that all employees deserve better pay and "a better life." In an interview with TheStreet ahead of the meeting, Ritter said U.S. taxpayers pay $6.2 billion a year to cover government assistance costs, like welfare, for Walmart employees who can't afford to live on what the company pays them. She said some still make as little as $9 an hour.

Walmart is getting nervous.............are they gonna go for the 'competition ideology' which knocked all the little guys out of business?
Probably not. One thing I go out of my way to go to ALDI'S for is there frozen burgers in a bag...I think they are nameless. They come in a blue bag.....and they are the best tasting frozen burgers that we have found...good tasting burgers..excellent on the grill. They just remodeled our ALD'S and reopened last weekend. Before that they only had 2 people working the whole store whenever we went there..and it's not automated.....no self checkouts. Now it has much more space and they had maybe 5 people working.

How many times over the years have we heard this about Walmart gutting a town in rural America?

Much has been written about what happens when the corporate giant opens up in an area, with numerous studies recording how it sucks the energy out of a locality, overpowering the competition through sheer scale and forcing the closure of mom-and-pop stores for up to 20 miles around. A more pressing, and much less-well-understood, question is what are the consequences when Walmart screeches into reverse: when it ups and quits, leaving behind a trail of lost jobs and broken promises.

We are witnessing this in our own community. It sickens me. We now have 4 grocers within 2 miles of us. The last being a Wal-Mart "neighborhood" market.

Walmart put a hurting on the mom and pop stores in the area we live in including my wife's business.. They also were to blame for three local manufacturers in the valley going out of business directly because of Walmart.. Last year they bought Jet.com and still haven't figured out how to run it.. They constantly screw up prices.. We still buy from them but very little now since the buy out.. There has also been rumors that they are gonna put a bid on "Whole Foods" on top of the bid that Amazon placed.. Costco also might get involved.. Sooner or later just like the trucking industry we will be down to just a few places to shop..
