I had shared a few months ago that our Smiths' did the same thing. Again, nobody is using them. We all get in the lines with cashiers so some other employee comes along saying "she can check us out at the self check out." I tell them as long as you do it, otherwise I will wait in line.

Walmart is so proud to announce their full time associates make an average of $14.26 per hour.
WOW ... full time, 40 hour week and you'll make $570 gross, before taxes. That will take you far in today's world.

Walmart says it pays an average hourly wage that's double the federal minimum
Walmart, the largest U.S. employer, promoted hundreds of thousands of its workers to higher-paying jobs last year — and the average earnings of full-time associates are nearly double the federal minimum wage.
In fiscal 2019, Walmart said it promoted 215,000 associates in the U.S. to jobs with "more responsibility and higher pay." The average hourly wage of a full-time, hourly associate in Walmart U.S. stores is $14.26.
Breaking that down further, a starting associate makes $11 per hour, up more than 50% from three years ago. The federal minimum wage sits at $7.25 per hour.
While a key department manager at Walmart can earn up to $24.70 per hour, the report said the average total compensation, including wages, benefits, and bonuses, for an hourly field associate at Walmart is $19.31.

No worries for them. Continued subsistence will be the norm. As the prices rise from the tariffs, the American tax payer will be left to pay for it.

Bernie Sanders will present proposal on behalf of Walmart workers at annual shareholders meeting and will present proposal on behalf of Walmart workers at annual shareholders meeting

Every year, Walmart stages a massive, multi-day meeting in Arkansas for the company’s shareholders, not far from the corporate headquarters of the world’s largest retail store. The company’s top executives deliver speeches, its board of directors hears various proposals regarding corporate behavior and governance, and special guests make surprise appearances to keep the masses entertained.

The shareholders’ meeting is also when the company’s 1.5 million U.S. workers — many of whom work for poverty-level wages with few benefits and employment safeguards — are given a chance to directly confront the billionaires whose fortunes they helped build.

For years, workers have appeared at the shareholders’ meeting to propose new corporate policies designed to help lift the retailer’s army of hourly workers out of poverty and provide them with greater protections on the job. Every single proposal they have put forward has been voted down and ignored by the Walton family, which controls the majority of votes on the board.
And I'll bet the Walton's won't take that challenge.

Good old Walmart. King of the low wages.

Walmart Fights $54 Million Lawsuit Verdict Awarding Drivers Sleeper Berth Pay
A three-member panel of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments Aug. 6 in an appeal by Walmart Transportation of a $54 million jury damage award in 2016.
The case involves a class-action lawsuit filed by hundreds of former Walmart longhaul drivers who sought payment for 10-hour layover shifts and other employee tasks from 2007-2015.
Walmart attorneys have raised multiple core issues in the appeal. One is whether a federal district court judge’s jury instructions improperly influenced the jury’s decision in favor of the drivers. Another is the relevance of a recent Department of Labor opinion letter that the time drivers spend in sleeper berths does not count as compensable time, unless they are actually performing work or are on call.
The plaintiffs in the case are former truck drivers in California employed by Walmart who went to trial on their minimum wage claims in 2016. They alleged that Walmart violated California’s minimum wage law by failing to pay class members the minimum wage for 11 tasks.

Walmart Anti-Union ‘Training’ Video Is Another Reason Not To Shop There

"Walmart is the richest country in the world*by revenue.

It has received*billions in tax cuts*per year thanks to the GOP.

The Walton heirs have a total wealth that is more than*43% of that of American families combined.

And many of their workers*have relied on food stamps.

If that is not enough to make your head spin, or stomach churn, this leaked anti-union “training” video below should do the trick."

Speaking about sharing some of that wealth ! Walmart has decided to not even pay time and a half for holiday pay this Thanksgiving. Isn't that nice of the billionaire owners ? But they are providing a 10% grocery discount coupon to be used by January 3rd. Isn't that just special ?

Time and a Half for Working Thanksgiving? Not at Walmart
Walmart will be operating at regular hours this Thanksgiving and Black Friday, but unlike retailers Target and Amazon, it won't be offering employees paid time and a half. In fact, as the Guardian reports, Walmart workers won't get any extra pay. Instead, they'll receive a 10% discount on "most" grocery items through Jan. 3 (milk, booze, cigarettes, and gas don't qualify), while employees who work all of their scheduled shifts between Wednesday and Saturday will receive an additional 15% discount to be used on Dec. 5 or Dec. 6. "We hope you know just HOW MUCH WE APPRECIATE all that you do," reads a company flier announcing the discount. Business Insider reports employees working on Thanksgiving will also get a free dinner.
One Walmart employee from Los Angeles describes having to donate blood and plasma just to make ends meet, per the American Prospect. Walmart opted not to hire seasonal workers in most stores this year, as in the last two years, with current employees picking up the additional holiday hours.

Wow, where can I get an application? Who needs Union benefits when I can spend my scrip at the company store! Golly, the Walton family sure are a generous bunch.

Another appeal that Walmart has lost. Wonder how long, and how much they will spend not to pay what is legally due to their employees ?

Court upholds ruling that Walmart pay California drivers $54.6 million for layover time
A federal appeals court panel has upheld a lower court ruling that Walmart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT) must abide by a $54.6 million jury award compensating a group of California-based drivers for 10-hour end-of-shift layovers, rest breaks and inspections.

In a ruling issued Jan. 6, the three-judge panel from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the drivers were entitled to compensation under California law because Walmart had exercised control over their schedules during mandated layovers and other breaks. State law requires that employees be paid a minimum wage covering the entire time they are under an employer’s control. Cases such as these hinge on the magnitude of an employer’s control rather than if an employee is required to work.

The driver class has argued they should be paid the additional wages, which would be equal to the difference between Walmart’s “layover fee” and the minimum wage they would be entitled to under state law. The ruling covers employees who drove for Walmart from 2004 to 2015 and is the latest action in a case that stretches back well over a decade.
In a statement late Jan. 6, Walmart said it believes that its drivers are “paid in compliance with California law and often in excess of what California law requires.” The company also cited its drivers’ elevated wages as evidence of its generosity.

Walmart said in the statement that it is reviewing the panel’s opinion before moving forward with a possible appeal.
