Default Unions plan massive anti-Trump strike

More than 300,000 workers are planning to walk out of their jobs in protest of President Trump on International Workers Day, according to a new report.

The report by Buzzfeed News said that "350,000 service workers plan to strike on May 1, a traditional day for labor activism across the world, in the most direct attempt yet by organized labor to capture the energy from a resurgent wave of activism across the country since the election of Donald Trump."

The Service Employees International Union, which endorsed Democrat Hillary Clinton for president back in 2015, will be a large component of the protest.

"We understand that there's risk involved in that," David Huerta, president of SEIU's California chapter, told BuzzFeed, "but we're willing to take that risk in order to be able to move forward in this moment, while the most marginalized are in the crosshairs of this administration."

I would imagine that the leaders of the unions do not have to worry about their jobs.. I don't think that because you don't like someone that it is a reason to go out on strike.. I would hate to see some of these people lose their jobs because of illegitimate reasons.. There are other ways to make a point..

    The action....Moving forward......

Day Without Immigrants’ Protests and Strikes Planned for May 1

Reflecting on their success in Wisconsin protecting immigrants, organizers are looking forward.
Across the country last week, immigrants went on strike to demonstrate what the country would be like if Donald Trump actually followed through on his promised deportations. The actions kicked off in Wisconsin on Feb. 13, where Voces De La Frontera and partner organizations held a “day without Latinos, immigrants and refugees” to protest Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke’s plans to collaborate with the Trump administration to deport people. An estimated 30,000 people in Milwaukee participated and about 150 businesses closed as part of the event, according to organizers. Jaffe spoke with Christine Neumann-Ortiz, executive director of Voces De La Frontera, about the day of action, the successes of the movement so far and plans for a May 1 national day of protest. She also spoke with German Sanchez, a Wisconsin farmworker who went on strike and a volunteer organizer with Voces De La Frontera, United for a Better Future from Fox Cities, and ESTHER. This is an edited and condensed version of their conversations.

This spring, America is going on strike against Trump

A risky way to fight back

Staging a general strike is not something undertaken lightly. Unlike asking people to march in the streets, there are a number of legal and societal hurdles in the way of successfully pulling off a strike.

Today’s legal landscape offers few protections. Anyone who decides to stay home from work on March 8 or May 1 may not find a job to go back to. If a group of employees at a particular workplace went on strike to protest a particular workplace issue, they might be protected. But individuals who strike to protest politics are totally exposed. “You have employment at will in the United States, so an employer can do what it wants,” said Thomas Kochan, professor of work and employment research at MIT.

Unions themselves can also no longer stage “sympathy strikes” where one group of workers walks out to support another striking group. So unions will have a tricky time getting members to stage general strikes.

It seems the policies are a big part of the problem along with the implementation of such by the present administration. Repercussions from the first hundred days of "amateur hour" in the Whitehouse.

What exactly are the policies that you mean.. IMO it is more that he is a Republican and not of the party of choice..
