Of course it was.....bank robbery would be great for business if they could get away with it...It defeats the whole idea of having a business by not allowing them to make as much money as possible by keeping bank robbery illegal....yet we don't allow it.......unionbusting should be viewed the same way.

A billionaire’s decision last week to shutter the news sites Gothamist and DNAInfo, just a week after employees voted to unionise, seemed to mark another low for unions in online media age.

Owner Joe Ricketts seemed to be making good on threats to pull the plug on his publications if workers joined a union. But in a public statement, Ricketts – a Donald Trump backer and founder of the discount stock brokerage TD Ameritrade – said the decision was purely financial.
The company, he said, “is, at the end of the day, a business, and businesses need to be economically successful if they are to endure”.
He added that while “important progress” had been made, “that progress hasn’t been sufficient to support the tremendous effort and expense needed to produce the type of journalism on which the company was founded.”
The decision to close New York-based Gothamist, DNAinfo, and sibling sites in Washington, DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Shanghai left 116 journalists, salespeople and developers out of work. The Writers Guild of America East, which the staff had voted to join only days before, said in a statement posted on Twitter that it was “deeply concerned” about the decision to close the publications: “It is no secret that threats were made to these workers during the organizing drive.”
It is believed that Ricketts lost money throughout his involvement with local news sites, a once-profitable sector hard hit by falling advertising rates. Established brands, including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, have reduced their metro commitments or closed local-focused sections as revenues have dwindled. Some publications, including the Village Voice, have closed print editions; others, like the New York Sun, have ceased to publish entirely.

They have a short highlight type spot on my righty AM radio here with Rush Limbaugh.

Rush loves that the union 'forced' this guy to make the decision to close shop and that this small group was the reason 110 people are now jobless.

This is where I strongly disagree with Limbaugh.
This is where I see his dishonesty and deceptiveness. And his bias.

He disagrees with collectives. he supposedly puts 'rugged individualism on the highest altar of the highest mountain........yet it is a complete and total lie and deception.

Our righty radio advertises and has on as a regular guest, the President of the Lehigh valley Chamber Of Commerce.
Rush has taken his money from Heritage Foundation and probably other think tanks and corporations.

All of the above are collectives.....they are groups of businessmen. they lobby for laws and legislations to favor their own group.
They are absolutely the same thing as unions are for the working man......the individual joins so that they can benefit greater, economically thru lobby.
And the guy who closed this news agency or whatever probably belongs to the same kind of thing.

Hypocrisy is what Rush's character qulity is on this....along with all the other Chamber members and heritage members...and donors or members to other think tanks..........and that stance has brought the decreases in wages...the losses of healthcare leading to Obamacare.the trade deals which have lost entire industries...the policies which take businesses from one state to another....and the welfare bills which are the result of the business UNIONS getting their way.....I absolutely hate their hypocrisy and deception on this issue...they are not rugged individualists.....they join groups for their economic benefit thru government policy lobby just like the unions........and since they have won the memebership drives...........they have done nothing but destroy this nation....Liars and deceivers every one.
