Default Move over uber, here comes ups

UPS is advertising that the company is hiring Personal Vehicle Drivers (PVD) who will be paid $18.75 an hour plus mileage to deliver packages using their own cars.

In other words, “Move over Uber. Here comes UPS!”

This is nuts. The Teamster Package Division sent the company a letter yesterday objecting to its plans to subcontract out union work.

Management responded with a letter to the IBT, saying that the company is moving ahead with its plans anyway.

The company also issued a statement to the press that“(W)e certainly intend to abide by the terms of the (contract) and will use the appropriate dispute resolution process in the event of differences in interpretation.”

In other words, “Management will do what we want. If you don’t like it, grieve it!”

It’s typical UPS and typical of Hoffa to roll over for them.

UPS Teamsters need to stick together and fight for change.

Hey Jimmy! Will this be another "welcome mat" moment or are you going to hammer those pricks? Your Daddy would have shut their sorry asses down for this crap!

You have to ask. Has UPS done this before ?
Yes ... in other ways, but still delivering packages by some other means.

I'll tell this story as quick as I can.
My wife used to get meds delivered by UPS ( or Fedex ) that were time sensitive and refrigerated. For whatever reason, UPS didn't deliver the package as promised. I called the specialty pharmacy and told them. They apparently contacted UPS and explained the cost of the shipment, several thousand dollars, which would be paid out for missing that overnight guaranteed delivery, and the next thing I know, a local taxi cab driver pulled into our driveway, at night, with the package.

All these companies will do anything to avoid paying an employee even though management made the mistake.

I could see Fed Ex trying this also.. But again FedEx can do whatever they want because their employees seem to think they don't need no Stinking union.
