Default Job losses hit 2.6 million as layoff pain deepens

WASHINGTON (AP) - A staggering 2.6 million jobs disappeared in 2008, the most since World War II, and the pain is only getting worse with 11 million Americans out of work and searching. Unemployment hit a 16-year high of 7.2 percent in December and could be headed for 10 percent or even higher by year's end.

That sure made me confident that I'll be called back to work at the end of Q1. I might be out of work for the rest of the decade it seems.

I was just told today that I lost my job. I was thinking it would be two years, but perhaps you are correct. It looked to me like they were doing layoffs once a month, but I was informed today that this was not the case. It looks like the layoffs are accelerating.

Don't feel too bad . Today was my last day at DHL after 14 years . One of thousands across the country. Last Jan in Chicago we had 6 terminals with about 700 drivers , By the end of Jan or beginning of Feb they'll be down to about 60 drivers and 1 terminal .
    Good Luck ALL
