Guess I won't be buying any GM automobils in the future. I think when I get rid of my Dodge I will go back to Ford. At least they took no bailout money in order to survive.

It's our very government that has been allowing these companies to do business abroad, hell they even reward them for doing it. As consumers, we have a huge ability to turn the tides on these companies, simply thru boycotting there goods. But we never will.

As far as the teamsters helping with the fight, good luck with that one.

I THINK IT'S TIME FOR GM TO TAKE A HIKE ! THEY SAY WE ARE NEVER GOING TO GET ANY OF THE "BAIL-OUT MONEY" BACK ? THEN AS ANOTHER OPTION HOW ABOUT DEMANDING GM TO GIVE EVERY NATURAL BORN AMERICAN CITIZEN FAMILY, "A BRAND NEW CAR" UNTIL THE EQUAL AMOUNT OF THE BILLIONS OF "AMERICAN DOLLARS" THEY TOOK ARE PAYED BACK !

The Detroit Three already sell small cars at a loss to meet the current 27.5 mpg fleet average. The car companies may hope that if the whole industry is forced to move up the fuel-economy ladder, consumers will have no choice other than to buy these cars. But experience suggests companies that have specialized in making smaller cars, such as the Japanese-owned auto makers, are more likely to be able to sell them at a profit. It is the government policy
of forcing the forcing the auto makers to meet the mpg fleet average that is the problem. The requirement now is 27.5 mpg and they are having problems. The new requirement is 35mpg per vehicle 'not fleet average'Do you see now why they have to import cars from China? Obama is destroying the american auto industry and forcing companys to move out because of his stupid taxes and agenda. Or is it just me that don't like small cars?..Hello ,is any body home?

I simply meant, that there is nothing they can do to fix the problem, The last year has taught me one thing, they are limited in strength.

And the UAW has had their hands tied as well. Besides the uaw and the teamsters have never had a very strong alliance here in n.y. They have sat back more than once and watched us get the screw.

I have learned one thing here on the forum, there is very little if anything, the teamsters can do to change the way companies do business. I used to think they could tell them how to treat the workers, but all of the attacks on unionized labor over the past 18 months has shown just how limited our ability to dictate terms can be.

I still have alot of respect for my union, but being unemployed from my union job the last year, with no real hope of getting called back, has left me a bit bitter. The terms of our demise were questionable at best regarding the teamsters, criminal at worst.

Even the court cases that the members of carhaul paid for out of pocket, showed the high level of deception in the negotiations between the teamsters and the carhaul companies, and the membership.

I have simply stopped relying on the union for any info, or assistance. We are on our own with this mess.
