    Default Great Recession Is Over

?Great Recession? over, research group says - Business - Eye on the Economy - msnbc.com

"The recession lasted 18 months, which makes it the longest of any recession since World War II. Previously the longest postwar recessions were those of 1973-75 and 1981-82, both of which lasted 16 months," the NBER added in a press release on its website.

Just because the recession ended 15 months ago, it doesn't mean that the economy is healthy, the NBER asserted. "Economic activity is typically below normal in the early stages of an expansion, and it sometimes remains so well into the expansion," the NBER said.

    Well that's a positive.

Mr. Obama doesn't think so "WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said Monday he doesn't care that the Great Recession has been declared over by a group of economists. For the millions of people who are out of work or otherwise struggling, he said, "it's still very real for them.""

Recession pain still real, despite end, Obama says - Yahoo! News

Although this is some great news, I won't feel like it has changed much until my husband gets called back to ABF AND we see those unemployment numbers start going down. But I will say this, my husband driving past our little town on interstate 40 called me today to tell me he had counted 6, yes 6 ABF trucks in a matter of a few minutes!!!! woo hoo!

That makes two of us! Hubby is still on layoff. Until more of our Brothers and Sisters get back to work will have a sense that something good is going on.

Get our hubbies back to work!!

If the recession was actually over in June 2009,then we have been in a depression ever since. Our great leaders think that we are dumber than dumb.

Well, I did see on the news today that housing starts in August were way up. I don't know how that effects YRC if at all but I do know from listening to conference calls that ABF depends on new housing starts for shipping goods. Maybe this is the beginning of the turnaround for all of us. My hubby was laid off in November 2008. Still waiting for that callback.
