Default Companies’ Ills Did Not Harm Romney’s Firm

I am very fearful of this guy becoming our president. I think if we feel we have it bad now, we have no idea just how bad it's going to get if Romney becomes our president.

The private equity firm, co-founded and run by Mitt Romney, held a majority stake in more than 40 United States-based companies from its inception in 1984 to early 1999, when Mr. Romney left Bain to lead the Salt Lake City Olympics. Of those companies, at least seven eventually filed for bankruptcy while Bain remained involved, or shortly afterward, according to a review by The New York Times. In some instances, hundreds of employees lost their jobs. In most of those cases, however, records and interviews suggest that Bain and its executives still found a way to make money.

Suck the life out of the company, cut it up and sell off the pieces. The lives that were destroyed in the process are irrelevant.

The destroyed lives are worth less than the machinery that is cut up and sold for scrap.

These companies that were put under by Bain Capital are very similar to what YRC is going thru right now..YRC keeps making all these interest and professional fee payments off the backs of the hard working employees of YRC but never seem to get ahead..I agree with ABFwife that if Romney is elected I would think that the working class and especially the unionized workers are going to be in for a rough ride..

Romney and Bain Capital's only interest was to make money, from any means possible, even if it meant destroying companies, jobs and the lives of the workers.

Bain’s modus operandi was to invest in companies, leverage them up with debt, and then sell them off for scrap, allowing Bain’s investors to walk away with huge profits while the companies in which Bain invested wound up in bankruptcy, laying off workers and reneging on benefits.
Adding insult to injury, Bain would hide its profits in tax havens, not even paying the rate it was supposed to on the profits it made laying off workers.

Romney has tried to spin his firm’s record of destruction as simply the way “free enterprise” works, claiming that Bain, overall, created 100,000 jobs. However, the campaign recently admitted that the 100,000 statistic is bogus, cherry-picked from a few successful ventures. One of Romney’s former partners at Bain has even said, “I never thought of what I do for a living as job creation…The primary goal of private equity is to create wealth for your investors.”

And this is the person we want to see as our President ?
