I apologize if this is duplicate news as there are many links in this thread. But this is news posted yesterday so hopefully helpful.

WASHINGTON -- House Democrats will introduce legislation to ban the production of high-capacity magazines on the first day of the next congressional session, the office of Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), one of the lawmakers sponsoring the bill, told The Huffington Post.

The Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act will mirror a failed bill introduced during the 112th Congress. Its authors hope that in the wake of the shooting deaths of 20 first grade students in Newtown, Conn., there will be heightened political urgency to act when it is reintroduced on Jan. 3.

Thank you 222lifer for more insight then I could have ever laid out in attempt to reason with our other members who feel that Nikita Khrushchev is lurking behind every corner.
Your statements and explanations point out what I could not say without any knowledge on those particular weapons. In my mind, I also felt going from a one squeeze per shot to full auto would not be that difficult for anyone accomplished enough to read and research such a project.
Finally, ammo doesn't look to be in short supply, even here in New Jersey. Shelves are stocked and we aren't even allowed to have rifles to hunt with. It's a shotgun only state !
Pistol ammo is plentiful too.
I would have to say you summed up my feelings on this subject.

Thank you for the kind words. I will never try to BS anyone on this issue. I hold a class 03 curio and relics FFL and have a substantial collection of firearms. I have been an NRA member for many years and I will fight to my last breath to protect my right to keep and bear arms. I don't feel like the weapons are the problem. I wish I had some answers on what we could do to solve this problem but I am at my wits end on the issue. It is very frustrating for all those involved.

There was plenty of ammo to be had at the last gun show I attended. Unless something has changed in a couple of months that I am unaware of? I am talking 9mm, 223, and 308. Guys were walking out with cases of the stuff. Your everyday hunting ammo was not in short supply either.

I was out today to procure some ammo for the firearms I own and found that most of the shelves were almost empty,...

No .223, No 7.62, No 9mm,No 12gauge 00 or riffled slugs left in 2 3/4 or 3 inch,...

.357, 40SW, .45Auto were all in short supply with only the expensive rounds left,....

There was still about a dozen boxes of cheaper Remington 30-06 hunting rounds left,...

Lot's of shotgun turkey and duck loads left,...

I am not into guns as some are but I believe it is your right to have them,my only question is why the need for these semi automatic stuff??

Because it is or legal right to own them,...

Because the government has full auto to use against us,.....

Not at all. I was pounded with this by the rights the entire time the presidential race was going on. The second amendment is always thrown into the political debate at election time.

First, where did you go shopping? Second, Is this due to homeland security buying it all up? Perhaps it is due to the fear that has been driven into the gun owners by all the talk of banning our weapons? I have seen this happen at least half a dozen times in the last 3 years alone. A great way to drive prices up for the ammo dealers. The gun shows have seen record sales the last few years around these parts.
