Default Obama administration moves ahead with sweeping rules requiring cleaner gasoline

As if gas prices were not high enough

Opponents estimate the standards would force refiners to spend $10 billion to upgrade their facilities and an additional $2.4 billion in annual operating costs, adding 6 to 9 cents to the cost of a gallon of gas. Public health advocates say the ultimate cost would amount to less than a penny per gallon because of provisions giving refiners flexibility in complying with the standards.
I would bet on the higher end as the speculators will drive this up.

Clean Air Watch President Frank O’Donnell said the move shows Obama “is willing to stand up to the oil industry — especially now that the election’s over.”
    This should be interesting..

I am all for a clean environment but I wonder if we could just tackle one problem at a time, mainly jobs!

Jobs? There a plenty of part-time jobs being created. Let's get our priorities straight like health reform, gay marriage, clean air and water. All you need is the air that you breath. Obama will take care of that for you

Yeah ,where's the union employee loving Obozo now that he's got reelected. Not fighting right to work laws no he's taking your guns ,fighting for gays and illegal immigrants. All the time laughing at the fools that voted for him.

Oil industry, lawmakers say EPA fuel rule would hike prices at the pump

Oil industry, lawmakers say EPA fuel rule would hike prices at the pump | Fox News

But critics questioned those claims, and said the plan would impose higher gas prices on hard-hit families.

"Increases in gas prices disproportionately hurt the nation's most vulnerable individuals and families -- with $4 dollar a gallon gas the norm in many parts of the country, we cannot afford policies that knowingly raises gas prices," Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., said in a statement. "The Obama administration cannot be more out of touch. With hard-pressed families already struggling to afford each fill-up, Congress needs to take a hard look at any new EPA regulation that may raise the price at the pump.
