    Default Eisenhower on Social Sec

“Should any political party attempt to abolish social security unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group of course that believes you can do these things. Among them are a few other Texas oil millionaires and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”

I still think he was the last real President this country had.

I don't think Eisenhower was one of the great President of our time, has does have some very memorable quotes, He seems more in line with a liberal Democrat than a Republican, here's another quote,

"Today in America, unions have a secure place in our industrial life, Only a handful of reactionaries harbor the ugly thought of breaking unions and depriving working men and women of the right to join the union of their choice. I have no use for those-regardless of their political party, who hold some vain and foolish dream of spinning the clock back to days when organized labor was huddled, almost as a hapless mass. Only a fool would try to deprive working men and women of the right to join the union of their choice"

    Dwight D. Eisenhower

What has happen to today "Republican Party" can anyone say "Fascist"?

    Other labor quotes,

"If i work in a factory, the first thing i"d do would be to join a union"

    FDR

"Our labor unions are not narrow, self seeking groups they have raised wages, shortened hours, and provided supplemental benefits, though collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor"

    JFK

All though am not sure that the Teamsters Union is not longer self-seeking any more, with what has been going on at UPS, but we can change that in the next election.

Not dealing with labor, but in a way it does,

"Do you realize the responsibility i carry? I am the only person standing between Richard Nixon and the White House"

    JFK

Nixon is responsible for opening up China to American business, where all our jobs are going for the most part.
