Default San Jose Leaders Look To Build ‘Pods,’ ‘Microhouses’ To Shelter The Homeless

Hey Homeless People COME ON DOWN!

San Jose Leaders Look To Build ‘Pods,’ ‘Microhouses’ To Shelter The Homeless

SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) — A new idea is taking shape in San Jose to help the down and out get out of tents and doorways and into more sturdy shelters. The idea involves building new neighborhoods for the homeless with shed-sized buildings.

The dwellings can be built for about $5,000. They are typically under 150 square feet, with no running water. Bathrooms and kitchens would be communal
“Right now to afford an apartment in San Jose, you have to make more than $30 an hour. It’s stunning the gap between what people can afford and what is real.

Fred 14 minutes agoI live in Eugene Oregon. Please please don't make the same mistake we have. This is a horrible wretched city. We have rampant drug use, homelessness and crime because we have catered to the homeless. It feels like a foreign country with the amount of nudity, open drug use and violence on the streets. There are camps in all the bushes. When there is a concentrated population of homeless in camps it becomes very dangerous for Police and Medical to even enter the camps. During the Occupy camp there was a murder, multiple rapes and multiple overdoses. It would take far too long to list the problems trust me I am scratching the surface. Can't wait to move.

Thats right ignore them, keep them in the shadows and portray them all as criminals, drug addicts/dealers and rapist, would like to commend those that take a proactive approach to a serious problem, years ago frustrated by homeless people urinating everywhere Seattle set up porta pottys and solved part of a bigger problem, lets not forget your patron saint Reagan who tossed all the mentally ill out onto the streets of America, great job Ronny how's that been working out.

Just heard very recently on the news that there are now about 7000 homeless children in the Albuquerque school district. That's right strappy. They are not all drug addicts, alcoholics and mentally ill. They are too often people who have spent a lifetime being productive human beings and they have lost absolutely everything to this horrible economy and corporate greed. Or veterans that went and risked their lives to protect all of our freedoms and they come home to no job. Absolutely disgusting!!!!! I think this CA city has their head on straight trying to tackle a serious problem.
