THE RESULTS OF CHRISTIAN ACTIVISM.... BIGGER GOVERNMENT, DEFICITS, WARS WITHOUT END

Here's a link that should get a heated conversation going. It makes a lot of sense. Oh, and the thread title should be "Politics and Religion" Slight typo...

75% of the population is Christian.
The country has been going downhill because of the Engeical majority.
We have had nothing but Christian or Catholic presidents since 1776,
maybe we should vote for the Muslim afterall........

Oh wait, he claims to be Christian also. Oh well, we are doomed

Wow! The thread title magically corrected itself. We DO live in a wonderful world, where anything is possible.

That article needs to be on a forum some where because all it is, is a rant from someone ticked off. Nothing he says makes any sense or has any validity to it.

Not necessarily saying I agree with all he says, just opening it up for debate. I don't have a set in stone opinion, I'll look at it and consider everything point by point.

America is facing serious political, economic, and cultural challenges and the 76 percent of the population that calls itself Christian cannot disavow its role in the turmoil. The first step just might be in admitting we've supported and taken part in the phenomena that have put us where we are and begin acting with integrity to what we claim to believe.
I have read the article several times since you posted it egambino. Without going into great detail about my personal beliefs I think the last paragraph says what I have been thinking for several years.

I agree. I knew this would open up a serious discussion, that's why I posted it. Some of it sounded like bunk, but some points make you think, as long as you aren't locked into an ideology.

Just think how it would be in the USA if everyone just obeyed the law. Everyone! The problem with Christians is we went into our closet on every issue when the gays and lesbians came out of there closet. If all people would live by the teachings of the Christians Bible the whole World would be a better place.

The last line is the issue. All of the World's religions think the same way. Jews feel the same of their religion, as do the Hindus, Muslims, Hari Krishnas, Jehovah's Witnesses...any religion. Who's to say who's right? I think the point of the article was that Christians are no different than anyone else. When problems arise in the country, we all tend to stick our heads in the ground and revert to stock answers...it's either God's Will, or market forces, or the other party's fault. None of us take responsibility for our own actions (or inactions) that helped contribute to the situation. The Politicians throw out these red herrings to distract, and it works. With all the serious problems affecting the country today, who really gives a damn who someone loves? This winter is going to be hell, people are going to freeze because they can't afford to heat their homes, food is being priced out of reach, and yet the politicians are getting folks worked up over who is allowed to get married. Trivial to say the least! Let's work on the real problems that affect everybody. This country is in real danger of seeing either a revolution, or else a crime wave not seen since the 1930's. That whole crime spree of the 30's was primarily due to people's desperation brought on by the Depression. Face it people, we're past a recession, and heading headlong into a depression if something doesn't happen soon.
