Default $7000.00 tax credit for buying a foreclosed home ? WTH ?

I was listening to the radio the other day and they were discussing a 7 grand tax credit for buying a foreclosed home, I thought only a Rich Republican would come up with this to protect his Fat cat banker buddies.. Now would it not make more sense to give say a 3 grand credit for buying an American car that exceeds 30 mpg and put some folks at Ford, GM & Chrysler back to work ? They can pay for it with a 3 grand excise tax on foriegn makes, and therefore theoretically the tax will not add to the deficit. Just call me a dumb hillbilly trucker but isn't getting people back to work far more important than,,cashing in on another man's misery and helping line Mortgage companies pockets ?..

First off...you are FAR from being a dumb hillbilly. The rest of your post I agree with completely. Leave it to the government to find a way of giving a tax credit that benefits bankers. Your idea of the credit going to buyers for higher mpg cars is fantastic.

I only wish a common working man had a chance at being President.. We really need some Blue-Collar common sense and values.

    I don't agree
there is a credit crunch out there and housing prices are falling like a rock. We need to get these houses off the market if you want to see some stability and return on home prices.
The banks have taken a major hit and the fed had to take drastic measures to support the banking system, they fall and it's over. would you like to see the dollar fall? which is another effect on raising gas prices.
A tax an foreign autos would be a disaster. That a 2 way street and unfair trade practice. They too would tax our autos and if you haven't notice the big 3 is doing quite well in those markets and what is keeping them afloat.
