Default On Four-State Tour, Democratic Leaders Try to Reconnect With Workers

    Good!!

CAMDEN, N.J. — The three Democratic congressmen sat at one end of a long, rectangular table that extended nearly the length of the Teamsters hall here, surrounded by about 50 union leaders, members and local residents offering a mix of praise, complaints and political strategy.

“This is a forum that was desperately needed for a long time,” James H. Paylor Jr., a top organizer for the International Longshoremen’s Association, told the lawmakers. “There’s a saying that it’s never too late as long as you start today.”

The need for the Democratic Party and the labor movement to take stock of their historically close alliance became clear after November’s election when Hillary Clinton’s support among union voters declined by 7 percentage points from 2012 when former President Barack Obama was re-elected.

Labor for many years was the backbone of the Democratic party.. Glad to see them reaching out to those they left behind.. But it will be a wait and see for me..And as long as they have people in the party like Kieth Ellison I would never return.. The party needs a new direction and new leaders..

So have any republican senators or congressman attempted to "connect" with anyone in the labor movement ?
Yet you easily cast aside those that want to at least listen to labor.
I notice you don't mention those good republicans that want to crush the union and the NLRB.

Sure, I'll vote republican someday ... when hell freezes over.
Maybe it was only just a matter of time, but Congress’ ruling Republicans, not content with picking off workers’ rights one by one, are launching a concerted effort to trash federal labor law – and workers’ rights – wholesale.
The two leaders of this push are Rep. Phil Roe, R-Tenn., the #4 Republican on the ideologically polarized House Education and the Workforce Committee, and Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., both from deep-red, union-hostile states. Roe frequently authors anti-worker and anti-union measures.
Oh yes, let's not forget to list all the supporters of these anti-union politicians ... all republicans.

Co-lead sponsors of Roe’s scheme are Reps. Joe Wilson, R-S.C. – the infamous shouter of “You lie!” at Obama’s 2009 health care speech—and Reps. Doug LaMalfa, R-Calif., Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., Rob Woodall, R-Ga., Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., and Richard Hudson, R-N.C.

I will not argue with you on just what is the worse party.. They both suck.. What I have been saying is that 40 or 50 years ago the Democratic party was the party for the middle class.. Unions brought people into the middle class.. Today's Democratic party has forgotten its past..All they seem to care about is political correctness and protect the ILLEGALS with their sanctuary cities bullsh*t..

Yes, they were. But everything changes with time.
Now today, the republicans still have a distaste and contempt for labor and unions.
Yet many ( so called ) union people believe they ( the republicans ) will "MAGA".
    Sure. At whose expense ?

It's not the Democratic campaign slogan and catch phase.

Unions exist for the betterment of all. Any union member that supports any group of political figures that want to destroy and crush unionism should consider the future outcome of a country without the unions.
We saw that from history, over 100 years ago.

From your description to the fact that I supported Trump makes me a "so called" union person?? And as far as the Democratic slogan goes they don't have one nor do they have a platform.. Broken promises to gain votes for their employment..

You can determine on your own about a "so called union person". Do you stand for workers rights ? Do you advocate unionism ? Do you believe the greater good is served by supporting unions ?
I won't say your a "so called union person", but I do know that some lurk on this forum.

    As for broken promises ...
    Day one ?
I will not take vacations ( or play golf ) ?
    The wall ?

Just a few for thought ...
