Default No #NAFTA2, Yes To Trade For People & Planet

    https://www.counterpunch.org/2017/09...people-planet/

The Trump administration is renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with Canada and Mexico in secret, just as President Obama did with the TPP. Over the past two decades, NAFTA has resulted in workers losing their jobs and being replaced by machinery, ruined family farms throughout the continent, displaced communities and privatized social services, environmental disasters like the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and a widespread attack on labor rights and unions.

Everything the new administration has done indicates that NAFTA2 is a deal that, once again, prioritizes the interests of corporations over people and the planet. Workers in each country will be worse off, the planet will be threatened by further contamination of the environment, and big corporate interests will take precedence over the sovereignty and democracy of each country.

This week, we explain our opposition to NAFTA2 and put forward a strategy to remake trade so it is no longer corporate-driven trade for the profits of a few, but people-driven trade to benefit all and protect the planet. See the list of actions below.

IF these people do NOT muscle up on the idea that Mexicans and Chinese and other third world and communist/socialist nations shall make our wages and be picked up....I don't want to here from them.......the biggest fix for the world would be that they make our wage in American dollars........otherwise I see it as a conspiracy to take us all down to third world and communist standards.....................EVERYTHING takes a backseat to that...or no trade with the world would be the best stance IMO...............let that take hold for decades before even thinking of environment or any other nonsense which can be used as a smokescreen to take us down.....they polluted here when unions were on the rise.....the poor and middle class were still picked up.....yes the environment is important....but what is more important is that our wages and power are NOT taken down....for risking losing money and power...allows the lousy ways of the other nations to overtake us....and make the ideal of better wages here unattainable.
Without money we have no power....and we will never see betterment here or elsewhere.

I wouldn't blame the other nations here brother, blame our greedy Americans who are moving their corporations to South America, and not just to the Mexican and Chinese as you called it.
Proper way brother is to Mexico or China.

The average in this chart says America is $60,000+ and Mexico is $8,000+.

A lot of good union jobs went down there.....and our unions or somebody needs to have these people stand up and make more money. There is a minimum wage in Mexico as far as I found. So why can't they tell their government that they want more..Why wouldn't our government tell their government that they must pay our minimum wage so there can actually be competition.....not competition of who is willing to be abused by the market...

The illegals are here because they make no money down there as one reason I suppose........so it stops our jobs from leaving if that would be done....and stops them from coming here illegally because they can actually make real money working if something like that was done........and they'd be richer than us...bcause land and housing is probably a lot cheaper down there....and they'd get to stay in their own ancestors country with their own families which they'd probably really love.

You don't think the capitalistic corporations won't find another place with cheap slave labor ?

Look at the labels. Furniture for your house, tires for your car, etc., all made in Vietnam. A communist country. A place where brave US servicemen followed orders and lost their life, all for this country.
    Bangladesh for your clothes.
And a few of the old communist block countries in Europe.
All provide goods and services we buy and use every day.

I could list many. But I think you get the picture.

Ya have to start Somewhere....Why not with the nation who is in NAFTA with us?
Why not with the nation where a lot of our illegals come from?
Why not with the nation who is the route in which many other South and central Americans come thru?

Why not push our politicians to make capitalism a good thing instead of an abusive thing?

The way to start would be thru NAFTA.......a negotiation.

NO pay our minimum wage in American dolllars?
    No trade with the US.

That would be a common sense type response.

But the existence of NAFTA is not to make capitalism or America or the world better for the population of the world or our nations....but to hold all down at the expense of banks, investors, and political and economic elites of the world.

It seems to me to be a no brainer...that if we wanted to sell a lot more stuff...and make more stuff......that increasing pay rates would do that.
A person making pennies on our dollar makes nothing...and can buy nothing....therefore these people are just like slaves....working for nothing except to make the investor and politicians rich.
I don't know Mexico's population....but imagine millions of Mexicans paid at least our minimum wage in American dollars........would it not make instant huge economic 'growth' as the shyster economists always look for?

How about if the billions of Chinese were negotiated into paying their people our minimum wages?

Would it not stop their illegal immigration here also....and the huge sucking sound of our jobs leaving?

Our economy could turn around like that...and the worlds too.

The middle class and poor were lifted most when unions grew.....and the economy was turned into the best economy in the world.

How is it that we are lied too and told that only the rich need money for us all to have money?

    It's a lie.

More money in more people's hands makes a good economy worth fighting for.

Canada has recently had some kind of NAFTA statement on us that we should get rid of right-to-work.......both Canada and us should muscle up on Mexico with NAFTA and say.....the minimum wage of Mexico must matchours.......

But the corrupt run the show...they act as Southern plantation owners, slave owners, pirates who deal in the finding of, transport of, and delierers of slaves with little to no rights into the economy........the illegal immigration racket is similar to the transport and delivery of slaves with no rights to corporate and small business owners........same as pirates in slave traders centuries ago.......these trade deals and the favoring of illegal immigration and cry for cheap labor immigrants all fall into that same mentality.....oppression for the benefit of the rich......and they spotlight how great it is for the immigrants and society....to hide their own disgusting abuse of the world, these people and our nation.

What is your solution to the capitalist corporations going to communist and third world nations and abusing the system?
    Stop the trade?
    Or tariff it?
Or allow them to just keep mistreating us and the world as they do..and just accept it?

Like I said, stop it in one place and they will move to another.
You can't and won't stop the wealthy and their quest to control us ( all the people of the world ) while they amass their money.
Has it been any different throughout the last couple of centuries ?
Nope ... not that I can see or read about.

So, no solution but to let them continue, and accept their actions which enslave people below us and ourselves too?
This trade is not picking us up...our jobs go....and welfare replaces it and bank debt......we are $20 trillion in debt and the main culprit is free trade with nations who allow their people to be abused.

We wouldn't need a wall if we paid them more.....savings there.....savings and alleviation of the hate by curbing the illegal immigration....because they'd stay home.....and to me it would seem more money made by all here and there...because they'd be able to buy a whole lot of stuff......and take back there government from corruption.
