Afge: Privatizing va won’t bring veterans better care, but filling 49,000 vacancies w
49,000 unfilled positions? Well that might just be the problem!
[Joseph Flynn]: “No evidence supports the claim that privatizing the VA would bring veterans better care.”
AFGE national Secretary-Treasurer Joseph Flynn.
The American Federation of Government Employees wants to save the VA from privatization. The union says with 49,000 unfilled positions at the VA, hiring more people to care for vets would be a far greater benefit to veterans than scheming to privatize the VA.
At a recent summit to save the VA from privatization Flynn said veterans don’t want their health care privatized and private health care systems aren’t better than the VA.
[Joseph Flynn]: “A recent American Legion study co-authored by Suzanne Gordon found that the VA health system performs as well as and often better than the rest of the U.S. health care system.
And especially when it comes to patient safety, patient satisfaction and care and coordination. And the study found that currently wait times are typically the same or shorter than those seeking private treatment.
In other words the VA is doing better than ever. And this is the time to strengthen the system, not weaken it.”

For 262 days, Mr. Trump has been President.
Isn't that enough time to direct the hiring of those unfilled positions ?
Or is it just more of the same rhetoric we hear from Trump.
5 draft deferments and golden Cadillac healthcare for him and his family.
Do you really think he cares ?
Actions really do speak louder then words, but only for some.

In fairness to Trump Shulkin is IMO trying just like his predecessors Bob MacDonald. It is an incredibly tough job. We have to remember it's congress that sets the VA's budget not Trump.
The Veterans Health Administration is America’s largest integrated health care system, providing care at 1,245 health care facilities, including 170 medical centers and 1,065 outpatient sites of care of varying complexity (VHA outpatient clinics), serving 9 million enrolled Veterans each year.
3 weeks ago my neighbor went to the Myrtle Beach VA clinic for routine blood work. The next day he got a call to go right to a local private ER. He was diagnosed with bile duct cancer. It was a risky surgery so they transported him down to the VA hospital in Charleston. From their they moved him next door to the Medical University of South Carolina which is the best hospital in the state. Sadly he was also diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. He continues to get the best treatment that money can buy. And it's all paid for by the VA.............He probably only has 5-6 weeks to live. Another Vietnam veteran falls victim to Agent Orange.

While i'm on the Agent Orange kick I'll add this. My neighbor's daughter was born with spina bifida. Back then they didn't know that it was caused by her father's having been infected by Agent Orange.

My brother gets just about all his care from the VA.. They have in the last few months given him the option of using private doctors.. Something that was not available last year..So yeah, they are getting better slowly .

And? Meant I actually thought you might have something to come back with to his post instead of the butt hurt lament we have grown so accustomed to. You expected him to drive 8 hours to deliver a beer to you when you were within miles of him and dogged him? Seriously?
