Default Will a new nafta raise wages and protect workers?

[Celeste Drake]: “Is there gonna be a labor chapter? Yes. is the labor chapter going to work? And is it going to raise wages in Mexico so that we can also raise wages in the U.S. and Canada, too?

    That’s an open question.”

The AFL-CIO’s Celeste Drake from the NAFTA re-negotiation talks in Washington DC. The original NAFTA did not put labor or environmental chapters into the main text.

The Teamsters Mike Dolan, an international trade lobbyist for the union and Jim Hoffa’s liaison in the NAFTA re-negotiations.

[Mike Dolan]: “At the end of the day if it doesn’t work for working families – and I don’t mean just in the U.S. – but I mean for working families throughout North America – then we will oppose it. We will oppose NAFTA 2.0.

We’ll find out whether or not this NAFTA replacement will be something that actually puts the workers in front of the short-term profit motives of corporate and investment elites.”

Another story. Could cost auto sector jobs in the US.
The U.S. auto parts industry could lose up to 50,000 jobs if the North American Free Trade Agreement is terminated and companies must pay higher tariffs to ship products to Mexico and Canada, according to a new study set for release on Thursday.
Ending NAFTA, however, would result in a full reversion to tariffs under World Trade Organization rules.
Mexico and Canada would fare better because they previously charged higher tariffs than the United States and would revert to those levels. And with no trade incentive to manufacture in the United States other than to avoid the 25 percent truck tariff, more full vehicle production would migrate to low-cost countries such as China, auto experts say.
Raising the automotive content thresholds and forcing automakers to verify the North American origin of more electronics and other parts now sourced from Asia would cause some parts manufacturers to forego NAFTA benefits, said Ann Wilson, the association’s head of government affairs..
“Instead of encouraging more U.S. content, these provisions will lead to less U.S. content,” Wilson said.

We believed this kind of nonsense before.....that's why we have all the economic problems of today......I say bring it all back and tariff the imports....that is what growing countries do....and at our trade deficit and national debt....we can only grow....so it's time to do what growing countries do....and that would be tariff.....they are just lying so they can continue to take slaves worldwide and keep more profits ofr the investors and CEO's....and they can dump and polute more easily in the other countries too.

I highly doubt that they are worried about making car parts for Mexican workers cars. Are they really buying American cars or parts anyways?
Nope...they are worried about the manufacturers there who need the parts...........................bring it all back...tehe investors, politicians and CEO's have made enough already....and it has done nothing for American or Mexican workers.

According to the Wall stret mindset.....we will always be hurt if we do not let them do what they want..

Truth is that they will be hurt if we put an end to their slavetrade....and they will say anything to keep it.

Never heard of the site before but here's what they say....probably not far from the mark.
The Globalists Are Systematically Destroying America

They say that all the big automakers have been opening facilitities down there and the wage is often $2.25/ hour......we cannot compete against that....so it needs to be stopped....our standards are not worth lowering for economic shams which do nothing but ruin our nation to make a few people, often foreignors....rich.
