    Default About Those AT&T "Bonuses"

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/atandt...ady-negotiated

AT&Tís CEO announced $1,000 bonuses for all AT&T employees. AT&T said the bonuses were the result of corporate tax cuts passed in Congress this week.

But the big payout was to President Donald Trumpís ego. AT&T was already in talks with its union to give holiday bonuses, that union told The Daily Beast. The telecomís GOP-friendly press release makes it the latest company to praise Trumpís legislative agenda when they need a big favor from the White House.

AT&Tís announcement comes one week after the company reached a new contract agreement with its workers. The contract came after a year of pressure from the workersí union, Communication Workers of America. But in the past month, CWA also pushed AT&T to add bonuses based on the GOPís promises of middle class prosperity under the tax bill.

    Comments made by CWA President.
Following discussions with AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, CWA President Chris Shelton reported that CWA represented workers at AT&T will receive a $1,000 bonus.

Last month, CWA said employers should guarantee the $4,000 wage increase promised by the Republican corporate tax cut, and contacted the CEOs of some of the largest corporations where CWA members work including Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, Frontier Communications, American Airlines, General Electric, NBC Universal and ABC Entertainment. "Together, through collective bargaining, we can ensure that promises about wages and jobs are kept," Shelton wrote.

Republican leaders have promised that households would receive on average, a yearly $4,000 wage increase. They also claimed that the corporate tax plan would produce new jobs in the U.S. as companies return work from offshore.

Well it adds up to $3000 short..................plus if we take an average of all jobs at years end.....I think we'll be much shorter than that........maybe even in the negative digits.

Yep, Trumps going to add jobs, really.......

    https://sputniknews.com/science/2017...tmas-lay-offs/

"An estimated 1400 American workers have been kicked to the curb just days before Christmas, courtesy of employer AT&T and a new corporate tax break signed by US President Donald Trump.
Broadband installers formerly employed by AT&T reported that they received termination notices just days before Christmas, despite earlier promises by the telecommunications giant that current corporate policy was centered around "creating jobs," according to the New York Post."

    From another news source.
AT&T plans to lay off and fire more than a thousand workers starting early next year, according to local reports.

Across the Midwest, an estimated 600 workers were notified they were being laid off by the company on December 16, a week before AT&T announced it was doling out $1,000 bonuses to 200,000 of its employees in celebration of the Republican Party’s tax overhaul.
The announcement came days after the New York Post reported that the company “pink-slipped more than 700 DirecTV home installers.
On Friday, the Post also reported that AT&T has recently laid off “215 high-skilled technician jobs in nine Southern states” and plans to fire nearly 700 workers in Texas and Missouri beginning in February.
