Social Security, HUD act on Trump’s orders in move to emasculate unions
Enforcing President Trump’s crusade against federal labor organizations, his lieutenants at two large agencies have opened new fronts against government unions.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) wants to evict all union offices from agency facilities, while the Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to “revise” 21 points in its union contract.

His actions are part of a coordinated, broad-based aggression against organizations representing federal employees and specifically their collective bargaining agreements.

Bring on the lawsuits and defend the rights of all people.
A prime example of Trump government waste. Tie up the lawyers and courts with all the lawsuits filed against these ( and others ) blatant illegal executive orders.

The blatant disregard for a contract is a Trump staple. He made his living screwing those he had contracts with and not paying what he owes. This must be all that "winning" he spoke of on the campaign trail?

Lawmakers support union lawsuits against executive orders
Glad to see this public unions are not taking this lightly.

A group of four current and former lawmakers are supporting federal unions' lawsuits against the trio of executive orders aimed at making it easier to fire federal employee and restricting union activity.

The lawmakers — current Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Peter King (R-N.Y.) and former Reps. William Clay (D-Mo.) and Jim Leach (R-Iowa) — filed an amicus brief in support of the unions' case July 2.

Federal unions had filed separate lawsuits that were combined by a district court judge and will be heard in a July 25 hearing.

The lawmakers' court filing argues the executive orders conflict with the intent of Congress in passing civil service and labor-management relations statutes. Clay and Leach served in Congress when it passed the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978.

On the executive order aimed at curbing official time, the lawmakers argue the executive order infringes on employees' ability to bargain over their official time.

Trump Administration Appeals Ruling on Federal Worker Rights

The Trump administration has asked a federal appeals court in the District of Columbia to review a judge’s ruling that blocked significant portions of three executive orders limiting federal workers’ rights.

President Donald Trump signed the executive orders May 25. The administration’s action would make it easier for federal agencies to fire employees, require the government to review all collective bargaining agreements for cost savings, and limit the amount of time federal workers can spend on union activities to no more than 25 percent of their work hours.

The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents federal workers, responded by*suing*the administration and later*seeking*a preliminary injunction immediately barring the enforcement of the executive orders. The union, in conjunction with its motion seeking to block the orders, also filed an*amended complaint*expanding its earlier arguments.

Trump Loses Bid to Expedite Revival of Anti-Union Orders

WASHINGTON (CN) – The D.C. Circuit on Wednesday rejected President Donald Trump’s request to fast-track a ruling allowing enforcement of three executive orders tightening regulations on labor negotiations in government workplaces.

The single-page denial order comes four weeks after the federal appeals court overturned a lower court ruling striking down several provisions in the orders. The three-judge panel chose not to immediately lift the injunction, allowing unions 45 days to request a reconsideration of their claims.

A week after that decision, Trump filed a motion asking the panel to expedite its ruling on the “erroneous injunction” put in place last year by U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who sided with the American Federation of Government Employees, or AFL-CIO, collectively representing the unions.

I was not sure where I wanted to post this. Executive order thread? Trump Thread? One of the threads discussing what he is doing to the VA? Just goes to show you how much damage he is doing. So much so, it's making it difficult to even keep the discussions on this board organized!

VA Issues Eviction Notices to Unions at Its Facilities

The Veterans Affairs Department will evict unions that have office space in agency facilities or force them to pay rent by early next year, as VA begins implementing executive orders issued by President Trump.

The department will also severely restrict the unions’ ability to conduct representational work while on the clock as part of a process known as official time. Union officials will only be able to spend one-quarter of their time doing such work and cannot provide assistance to VA employees pursuing grievances against the department, the department said in a new policy announced Friday. The changes will bring VA in line with the requirements of Trump’s orders.

The unions must vacate their office space or begin paying rent by Jan. 31, 2020. They must tell VA of their decision by Jan. 10. The department will inform the unions next month of what their rental costs would be to remain in the facilities. Unions currently maintain office space at agency facilities across the country at no cost to the organizations.

The new policies follow the reinstatement of three executive orders Trump first issued in 2018 that sought to rein in the use of official time across government, as well as other steps to limit their influence and power. The orders were blocked by a federal judge in May of last year, but an appeals court overturned that decision this summer. Last month, the Office of Personnel Management gave agencies the go ahead to move forward with the orders and offered guidance for their implementation.

Something we have documented from this pathetic group Trump assembled is the gutting of our ability to investigate. From OSHA to the VA.
