When are the American people going to realize that the Government (Oligarchy)those who really run the Government IMO...just use you for there own profits...and could care less if you live or die...Smedley Butler was right the Military is just the muscle for "Capitalism"...

"In a sorrowful time when "a true patriot gets fired for doing the right thing," the Navy captain ousted for blowing the whistle on Navy inaction as coronavirus ravaged his crew walked off his ship Friday to the stirring sound of thousands of sailors chanting, "Cap-tain Cro-zier! Cap-tain Cro-zier!" Navy Capt. Brett Crozier "was wrongfully relieved of command but did right by the sailors," most sentient beings agree, after he wrote a pained letter leaked to the San Francisco Chronicle urging "decisive action" and warning higher-ups the outbreak could unnecessarily kill scores of sailors aboard the USS Roosevelt. A Santa Rosa native and U.S. Naval Academy graduate praised as "a leader of utmost character," Crozier had amassed more than 3,000 flight hours piloting Seahawk helicopters and later Hornet fighter jets in two tours during the Iraq War. The ship was on a Pacific deployment before it was forced to divert to Guam after several virus cases were reported; thanks to close quarters and a failure to evacuate and isolate, at least 1,000 of its over 4,000 young men and women have now tested positive. In his letter, Crozier charged that keeping them on board "is an unnecessary risk and breaks faith with those Sailors entrusted to our care.” Describing an "ongoing and accelerating” spread of the disease, he pleaded for “compliant quarantine rooms” on shore in Guam “as soon as possible.” “This will require a political solution but it is the right thing to do," he wrote. "We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die. If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset — our Sailors."

Did he do the right thing?? Using a unsecured email to send a letter to the media?? From what I heard his boss was just a few doors down from him on the carrier.. Your link says a 1000 sailors have tested positive yet the article I read said as of friday 4/3 there were 137 positive cases..

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ng/2943063001/

On Thursday, acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly announced the firing of the Roosevelt's Capt. Brett Crozier, who was forced out after he sent a letter Sunday raising concerns about the Navy's response to the COVID-19 outbreak aboard his ship and stating sailors could die without prompt assistance. Crozier had the opportunity to bring the issue to the attention of his superior officers, including one aboard the Roosevelt, but instead sent a letter copied to dozens of people, Modly said.
On Friday, 137 sailors from the Roosevelt had tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Navy. The Navy has quarantined 576 crew members in hotels in Guam after they tested negatively for the disease. Nobody has been hospitalized. Sailors remain aboard the ship to maintain its nuclear reactors and guard its weapons.

The first three positive cases were found March 24.

As of Friday, 41% of the USS Theodore Roosevelt crew were tested for COVID-19, with 137 positive cases so far.
As always two sides to the story..

A few days later, Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly announced Crozier would be relieved of his command because he "exercised poor judgment," which is Trumpian for "told the truth about a problem and sought to do something about it." After some blather about unclassified email and chain of command, Modly said Crozie let the outbreak “overwhelm his ability to act professionally...
It creates (the) perception that the Navy is not on the job, the government’s not on the job, and it’s just not true.”

This Navy Captain broke the chain of command. IMO we can not have high military officials leaking information to the press. And also anyone in the military. That can not be tolerated IMO. Sailers will follow their officers no matter what. Thats how they are trained and how the are loyal to their leadership. My opinions && I think there is truth in my opinions.

        Re: American Hero

Here is another story about it and again it was breaking the chain of command.. But I do see a congressional investigation coming in the future..

        https://www.americanthinker.com/blog...ht5Bk.facebook

“[Acting Navy Secretary Thomas] Modly is the responsible, accountable official to the American people. And he had reason to believe that the captain operated outside the chain of command and he relieved him,” Milley told Fox News’s Outnumbered Overtime on Friday.

Milley said there is an ongoing investigation into what happened, but he trusted Modly and his judgment and would support him.

He added, “The secretary of the Navy is responsible to the American people for the good order and discipline of the Navy. And when he loses trust and confidence in a ship’s captain, then that’s it. It’s target down. And we’re moving on to the next, to the next task.”

        [snip]

Modly said Crozier had cc’ed more than 20 people, including some outside the chain of command, over unsecured and unclassified systems, assuring the memo’s leak.

He also said Crozier did not speak to his direct superior, carrier strike group commander Rear Adm. Stuart Baker, about his concerns before sending the memo, despite Baker being on the carrier and living within feet of Crozier.

Modly said Crozier was not fired for expressing concerns, but the way he chose to do so.

            Re: American Hero

IMO he is a Hero...put his career on the line for his men/women...and am sure he went thought the chain of command and probably got no reply from them they didn't want to hear it. So he told the truth and like most truth tellers today they get discipline, jailed or exiled do you want me to name a few..

Hey was in the Marines on those ships you are living in very tight quarters a virus like this could easily go right thought it...he has to get them off the ship for the safety of all....and no not all Officer are loved believe me...you only do what they say because you will get "Court Marshalled" and most of the time when the $hit hits the fan in the field it's the NCO's that you follow and I have seen NCO's tell the Officer what to do and most Officers do it.

Courage. Crozier knew it was the end of his career commanding that ship when he penned that letter. He gave it all up for the lives of his crew.

That’s his first pod cast he said. He’s trying to make his pod cast go viral off the backs on the service men and captain on this ship. That’s my opinion. Comon first podcasts and it’s about this subject ?

Kudos to the Captain for his heroic actions, and to all the 'Crew Members' who supported, and cheered him, when he left the ship...Despite the craven gutlessness of the acting secretary of the Navy, the show of support for the Captain may very well be one of the most powerful messages that states how much respect the men under his command have for Captain Crozier...

By my standards,Bush,Cheney,Rumsfeld,Obama, and Hillary are the real war criminals...I'm with his 'Crew' on Captain Crozier as he leaves his ship....

Here is a little more about it..

                          https://dailycaller.com/2020/04/06/t..._campaign=push

Acting Secretary to the Navy Thomas Modly flew to Guam Monday and delivered a fiery speech to the sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt after their captain was fired over a leaked letter pleading for those infected with the coronavirus.

The speech, a transcript of which was obtained by the Daily Caller, backs the decision to relieve Capt. Brett Crozier of his duties. Modly called the letter, which begged the Navy to send resources and help the at least 155 sailors on board who have the virus, a “betrayal of trust.”
