More indoor restroom facilities are to open on Pennsylvania interstates.

Indoor facilities reopen at 3 more PA rest areas
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Monday, May 11, reopened indoor facilities at three more rest areas on interstate highways.

The latest rest areas to reopen facilities include:

Interstate 70 westbound in Fulton County, 1 mile west of the Maryland state line.
Interstate 80 eastbound in Columbia County, 3.5 miles east of Exit 242.
Interstate 80 westbound in Columbia County, 10 miles west of Exit 256.
PennDOT has reopened indoor restroom facilities at other rest stops on its interstates as well. Most had been closed in March because of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

With all the dangers on the road today, we have some idiots throwing rocks at trucks.
Be careful and keep your eyes open.

Rocks Being Thrown At Trucks In Pennsylvania – State Police Investigating
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident in Pike County, involving rocks being thrown at trucks.
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 7, at approximately 8:20 pm on Interstate 84 eastbound, milepost 45.
PSP says that two trucks were traveling eastbound when their vehicles were struck by rocks being flung.
According to one of the drivers, three white males were seen on the side of the road. Two of the men threw the rocks .The rocks cracked the driver’s windshield and punctured a fuel line.
Another truck also sustained damage to its hood.

Drivers, if you’re in the area, keep an eye out and call the PSP Blooming Grove at 570-226-5718 if you see anything suspicious.

            Re: Pennsylvania road advisory

These accident were on Thursday and blamed on the wild weather we've been seeing.

Officials blame weather for 14 crashes involving 24 semi trucks
As many as 25 tractor trailers were involved in a chain of crashes that caused massive backups in Pennsylvania on Thursday.
According to ABC 27, 10 miles of Interstate 81 were shut down just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9th to approximately 1 a.m. on July 10th after severe storms caused 14 crashes, including three hazmat incidents.
During the clean-up of the multiple wrecks, semi trucks were detoured to avoid further backup, but even on the detour traffic was an issue.

Pennsylvania plans a 12 year investment program for infrastructure projects.

Pennsylvania Transportation Commission OKs 12-Year Investment Plan
The Pennsylvania State Transportation Commission recently updated its transportation program, which outlines plans to direct billions of dollars to future infrastructure projects.

Chaired by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Secretary Yassmin Gramian, the commission serves as board of directors for PennDOT. In addition to Gramian, the commission includes members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and Senate and a group of appointed constituents.

The 12-Year Program, as the transportation plan is known, anticipates $64.8 billion will be available for infrastructure improvements through 2032. The commission updated the program, which considers road, bridge, transit, airport and rail needs, on Aug. 13.

Be extra vigilant driving. Seems this is happening more and more. These incidents happened in Pennsylvania.

Truck driver injured by rock thrown from PA overpass, second truck targeted in a week
Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are investigating after at least two semi trucks were struck by objects thrown from an overpass in the same location in less than a week.
The most recent incident occurred shortly before midnight on Thursday, October 15th.
PSP says that a 33 year old FedEx truck driver was traveling north on I-81 at Exit 107 near Frailey Township when a large rock was thrown at his vehicle.
A similar incident occurred less than a week before on Friday, October 9th, also in Frailey Township.
Around 10:45 p.m., PSP troopers were dispatched to northbound I-81 for reports of rocks being thrown at vehicles.
If you have information on the October 9 incident, you’re asked to call PSP at Frackville at (570) 874-5300.

                    Re: Pennsylvania road advisory

New law in effect for Pennsylvania drivers.

“Steer Clear Law” set to become “Move Over Law” following Unanimous Passage by General Assembly
HARRISBURG – Legislation sponsored by State Senator Doug Mastriano (R-33), State Senator Kim Ward (R-39) and Senator John DiSanto (R-15) to strengthen the state “Steer Clear Law” and better protect tow truck drivers, law enforcement and other first responders is set for enactment following unanimous passage by the General Assembly.

In addition to adding stiffer penalties and raising public awareness, Senate Bill 1281 would rebrand the “Steer Clear Law” as the “Move Over Law” to clarify how motorists should react when approaching or passing an emergency response area. Examples of an emergency response area are when a police officer is conducting a routine traffic stop or when a tow truck operator is helping with a disabled vehicle.
